Bioware seriously needs to address this major **** up with character continuity or there respected label as good storytellers will take a major hit. Such continuity errors are not only pathetic, but they show a complete lack of talent when they are at this level.

When I am done with my first playthrough of ME2, I might just go back to ME to play it again.

She was and still is my fav character of ME, I have not met her in ME2 yet and I already know it won't be as dramatic as I hoped for, but I am glad that they at least made it feel connected to ME1, i only hope in ME3 they give her a bigger role possibly.

Once you run into her you will see what the fuss is about. Come back and tell us what you think after you do.

I don't think Bioware is going to lose any reputation over how things played out with your old crew. The death of someone you respect changes you usually, I think the way Liara and Garrus were written was extremely well thought out.

yea the human LI's are complete asses. If I would have gotten treated better by ash I would wait for her in me3. But because she was a total b!@#t I find miranda more attractive and with more of an open mind. I do hope however that bioware does not punish us by liking someone new because if they leave us lonley in me3 I will be upset. Its because they made the LI's from me1 abandon us that we feel the relationship is dead. We are not married to the LI from me1 and after the treatment we recieve from them basically dumping us we should not be punished for choosing a diffrent LI. It cannot be considered cheating because you are not together the LI from me1 made that clear enough.
But I think BioWare realized this would happen. On one hand they have people who want to see the ME1 LI's come to a gratifying climax as well as knowing there would be people who like the ME2 romance options better. Expect ME3 to be both a big game and filled with multiple branches of content. I expect ME3 to the best of all three in more ways than one. The budget for ME3 is gonna be huge. Hopefully ME2 sells well enough to cause EA to invest a LOAD of cash into BioWare for ME3. so whoever pirated the game, stop being ..... and go buy the game. It's pirates who threaten our ability to get the most out of this trilogy. encourage your friends to buy the game. Support, support, support!!!

That said, I know my Colonist Shepard is going to be quite upset when I finally get around to doing that one playthrough...

I don't know how many people got the CE(Collector's Edition) copy of ME(Mass Effect), but there is a comic that tells Liara's backstory in this whole thing. I haven't found her yet, i've been playing for 8 hours and i've barely just recruited Grunt. But i did read the comic that came with it, and it seems like she's been through hell and back looking for Shepard. Besides, i remember IM(Illusive Man) saying that she was working with the shadow broker now, so that may bring out some issues with her state of mind. Almost as it traveling far and wide have made her somewhat distant to what she thought she knew about the galaxy. Again, i'm just assuming, and apparently nerding out.
Well that is the comic book and only issue #1. So here's what we DO know so far. Liara did join the Shadow Broker, but as far as we know in hopes of rescuing Sheperd, so it can be argued that she has done the most to find and save Sheperd. What we don't know is what is in the last 3 issues (obviously). I can assume that she undergoes more wild situations all in an effort to save Sheperd and I'm guessing she is betrayed time and time again. I think this is why she is "traumatized" in ME2 and not really her self. I sense DLC or a great, great role in ME3. I still love Liara and can;t wait to be her knight in shining armor and bring her back to who she is. This game is great. Don't write her off yet, there still is so much left to discover.

Oh, i will not write her off at all. I love Liara( in a video game eccentric sort of way). She was the best part about ME1 and was definitely the more intimate choice in terms of the love plot. But i think you're right. It seems like her whole venture to get Shepard back really messed her up on all sides. It really sucks that she's like this, but hopefully they make it so that you can save her from the turmoils she's been through. Like i said, i haven't gotten to that point yet, but i'm really intrigued as to how bioware can keep this relationship going.

She is still troubled by you showing up, she is pleased but cannot abandon herself to you as well.. if she is indeed undercover... fraternizing with a cerberus agent would make her cover situation a Charlie Foxtrot.
Its merely sensical character development... HOWEVER, I would have indeed liked to hear more from her and other ME1 people whether crew or not...

She lost you - her savior, potential love interest , the man she spent a full game risking her life with... she lost a lot, she had to find your body for Cerberus, (Comic books) she had to live on her own since the team was dismanteled and the Council sure as hell tried to discredit all the reaper shenanigans of ME1... how would you react? Being told that all you pretended your team did was a lie? That the reapers are no danger despite all that you saw and did and that Shephard was dillusionnal? Would you stay all blind to the system's flaws and remain naive and innocent? No you'd be dead or worse... She grew up... she had to go through a lot, from your corpse finding to working for or undercover for the Shadow Broker (whom wanted to sell your corpse to the Collectors of all people)... what do you think that does to a person.

Now that is my thoughts exaclty. There is almost no better explanation than this (until BioWare gives their's of course)
Well said, well said!

BTW... I read something about Liara and a Drell. Does anyone know anything about that?
Feron, he is the Drell in the comic book. Based on what Liara has said, he might be dead and is the fuel apparently for Liara's vendetta against the SB. But yeah it's all in the comic book.

You know what would be a nice big twist? Getting Kahlee Sanders as a recruitable squadmate in ME3 or anyone from the extended lore for that matter.

Then again, Bioware is all about making characters elicit emotional reactions. In ME 1, people complained Liara was goody two shoes and one dimensional. She has probably changed the most, character wise, even to the point that she made Ashley look rational. Even so, good for the story? We'll see.
