As far as the comic pulling some of the story along, that’s a problem because I play with a fem Shepard and I don’t relate to the story with a male Shepard, it’s too weird. Not going to read them, I need the game to tell the story.

I found her change welcome.
It will be interesting to find out what made her so crazy.
^^ This
Its been 2years guys, people change, the Liara in the 1st ME was navie and innocent, she most likely never killed are had someone close to her killed, in ME2 she lost someone close to her, she is a changed women, and has vengence on her mind. You can expect her to pick up where you left off because alot has happend since then, in real life people change, in a game that is suppose to be as "realistic" as possible, it would only make since that she is bit hardened after losing two people her are very close to her, her lover (shep) and the mystery person.

If you appreciate good storytelling I'm sure you'll accept Liara in Mass Effect 2. There is clearly more going on than she can tell you and that's part of the remaining loyal thing. Plus, if you manage to steer the conversation correctly you -do- see that she's still well intentioned at heart, though admittedly she has grown up a bit.
Couldn't agree more. Clearly this character has gone through hell in the last two years and in a way, she is kind of like her mother in some respects which Shepherd even makes a remark about in dialog.
Two years worth of hell and who knows what...this character being this way makes perfect sense to me.

She went through a horrible, horrible ordeal, finding the broken body of someone she loved dearly and then having the Shadow Broker try and SELL his corpse when she was desperately trying to get someone to resurrect him. To top it off, a friend of hers is subsequently killed by that same person. I didn't read the comic, but it is clear that she has been put through an emotional wringer, and has become a bit obsessed with her revenge because of it. It is an interesting change -- not what I was anticipating, or what I had hoped, but it DOES make sense and I do want to see what they do with it in ME3. I am not making any judgments until the trilogy is finished.

So, you're ****ing because she changed over a two year period?Kabraxal wrote...
This is the aspect many people are condemning the most. This portion of the game is a horrible job of hack writing that only shows the contrived nature of trying to force "dark" and "edgy" where it doesn't belong.
Bioware seriously needs to address this major **** up with character continuity or there respected label as good storytellers will take a major hit. Such continuity errors are not only pathetic, but they show a complete lack of talent when they are at this level.

Actually if you chose the why so angry dialogue option you get a lot more info from her about why she's so different, and you get to see the real Liara for just a bit. Seriously the woman went through hell and back for Shepard after Shep died. That whole conversation blew me away. What she did for Shepard kinda makes the rest of the ME1 squaddies look bad. She was the only one who wouldn't give up on Shepard after the Normandy was destroyed. Everyone else wrote Shepard off as dead and moved on, maybe not happily but they did move on, not Liara and now she's having to pay for what she did to get Shepard back so she's putting on this act because until Shepard shows back up she has no one. She doesn't trust anyone and she thinks her only friend in the galaxy might hate her for what she did. That's some serious emotional baggage.
This. Exactly. She is the only reason you're still around, and she paid dearly for her dedication to you.

Since Shepard can "Die" and not survive into ME3, how else will they work with this? Clone Shepard?
Start off as ME2 Shepard or a Cerberus cloned Sheperd?
We've already seen that the game world has cloned korgans with "imprints". I wouldn't be surprised if Liara only gives you a quest to go kill the shadow broker in ME3. Then she just says
" This will still take years. Bye! "

Liara just seemed a complete 180 to what her character was. Maybe the writer that wrote her is somewhere out there saying, "good, that's what I wanted." No...bad writer, bad.
If there was a relationship there from ME1 then there should be something more there dialog wise than, "it's been two years, now go hack something for me." So after that disappointment I went with Tali. Only to be once again disappointed with not being able to see her face. Shepard got to see her face, why not I? The wrap-ups on the relationships in this game was the biggest disappointment in my book. Seemed like it was either bad writing or Bioware staying too safe. *sigh*

YES! The Shep/Liara relationship was the thing I was looking forward to the most from ME2. What a letdown, I don’t think it’s any excuse that the comic book fills in some holes. Bull, the game has to stand on its own and the story took a huge WTF turn. It’s cool if it part of the story arc needs Liara to push Shepard away, but come on a little back story, stay in character and for crying out loud at least have Shepard react the way us fans are. I can think of one or two lines of dialogue that would have made the whole thing work a lot better. Doesn’t seem like much to ask.
This pretty much. It seems to be a fairly often recurring theme in ME2 though that the characters don't react the way a real person would. Shepard's complete apathy to Liara, her situation, and anything she may or may not have done for him was a real let down. That is just one of many immersion breaking moments though.
Ash/Kaidan in their reunion with Shepard were about the only characters in the whole game that had any believable reactions to anything that happened.

That said, I did like her as a person, and I appreciated what she put herself through to get my body back, even if it left her in a dark place. I think what ME2 did spectacularly was get you to feel pretty strong emotions whenever you met with any of your old crew again. Tali, Garus, Joker & Chakwas standing by you no matter what was so strong. Meeting with Wrex was so surprisingly heartwarming.
The true disappoinment was Ashley/Kaidan to me. Doubly so if they were your romantic interest. When given the chance to support you and have your back, they yell at you for not calling while you were in a coma.
