This has probably been discussed before but I am somewhat lazy when it comes to scrolling through pages of text.   When watching Biofans' regret about the demise of the Forums there was a roving camera around the area of the Storm Coast and it suddenly reminded me of a question that has been at the back of my mind.   Why are there so many dwarf monuments on the surface here?    I don't recall anyone mentioning how odd it was or why they were there.

The Hissing Wastes was down to an ancient dwarf leader voluntarily exiling himself and his family to the surface but there seems even more evidence of dwarven structures on the Storm Coast with no explanation whatsoever.   Did I miss something somewhere?

There used to be a dwarven trading post there called Daewin's Mouth. It was abandoned due to the darkspawn. This is all explained in the landmark codexes.

Daewin's Mouth is that complex where we attack the Red Templars.    However, there are a lot of dwarven statues and structures on the surface.   So did Tevinter build them in honour of their trading partners?   Seems a bit odd considering they would never see them.   Oh well.

It's all the same trading port. The dwarves built tunnels all over the area and thus their architecture lingers. That's why you have to seal up multiple entrances to the Deep Roads when the darkspawn show up.

IIRC both Varric and Bull are particularly chatty about the dwarven architecture out there.

Could part of it - the bits on the surface - be the remnants of another surface colony? Like the one in the Hissing Wastes? Maybe a little village cropped up around the trading post.

I think those are golem statues on the storm coast. Maybe the Dwarfs lived on the surface and in underground cities at one time?
