I swear sometimes against demon commander if I time the roll right I take no damage when he comes up through the ground.

I am not so sure it has i-frames, but combat roll certainly is designed to counteract pop-ups and knockdowns. Due to what you are seeing, it appears that there is some "i-frameyness" going on (yes I know... not a word).

I think Roll With It (Combat Roll upgrade) has it.  It is kind of like Combat Roll + Short Duration Fade Cloak.  I never really have Combat Roll without Roll with It... and I haven't have either for a long time now.

Yes I always upgrade it as well.  Just because it's nice to get up from knockdowns.  I'm not sure if it's iframes or if it's just some leggy-ness on the internet.  It just feels like there may be an iframe or 2 in there.  It doesn't work every time, so I can't be certain.
