Nope.  I am not going to buy it.  I will either pirate it or buy it second hand.  It's clear Bioware doesn't give a rat's ass about its fans anymore.  Why should I support them any longer?

You're going to pirate it?  That's pretty lousy.  If you're going to take the time to do that, you obviously feel the game has some merit, in which case you owe the devs something.

Then show some integrity and don't play it at all.

Yes, very horse armor.

I'm going to play this one safe and wait probably... I'm sick of all these games turning into $60 coffee mug coasters.

After ME3 and DAI, there's no way I'm preordering it or buying it full price at launch. Even with outstanding reviews.

While I'm not sure why they decide to close the forums, this move doesn't inspire confidence. If anything it validates my choice to wait for a sale to buy it (if ever).

We have next-to-no info on ME:A as a whole, no proper gameplay footage has been release. So I'll wait till we have more details and gameplay before I even consider buying/pre-ordering ME:A.

I want to say I won't pre-order and that I might even buy it from someone else, but I'll probably break in the few seconds after it becomes available to download.

I was suspicious of MEA beforehand.

Now I wonder why I should have anything to do with a company that holds its players is such contempt at all.

Ditto.

I will wait for the reviews. I liked Mass Effect 1-3 and played each game several times.

The reason why I am skeptical is DAI. I have read all the books and liked DAO and DA2 but I didn't like the newest game.

Also there were a lot of news that people left during development and we know very little about the game.

I can actually get an attachment or two for a Cat. D weapon with that money. Or over fifteen thousand rounds of ammunition. Or some pouches. I need 30rnd 5.45x39 shaped pouches. Actually, the Collector's Edition that I planned to purchase originally is almost two grand. I can have a used Cat. D sidearm for that, or add a little more money and have a new one.

Now that I used this line of thought, I have to consider the pre-announcement and post-announcement phase. Before the announcement, I had a clear math, and I knew exactly how much money I need to get the equipment I need, and the game. Right now, though... I didn't account for extra mag pouches in the original calculation anyway.

Closing down the forums hasn't really bothered me.

Intellectually, I think preordering is dumb. But I'll allow myself once a year or so to splurge and preorder a game. We'll have to see actual info about the game first, but MEA will probably be that.

I'm absolutely amazed how many people still preorder games... why? And it's not like people on this forum are "casual" gamers. How many AC Unity's do people need to wise up to the fact that preordering is a terrible idea. Not only are you buying what is basically a promise, but you're encouraging the release of buggy, broken games and abandonware.

Seriously, I don't care how massive of a fan you are, stop preordering video-games. You can always get it later... it's not like games are gonna run out of stock.

As a principle. I don't encourage pre-orders for all the good logical reasons often discussed.

But as a highly invested gaming fanboy, logic goes out of the window and I want it immediately at launch (whoo hoo).

Not proud of it, but I'll live with that  ;)

Oh and the devs who made the game have nothing to do with a marketing generated forum decision.

Pre-order already made. It locks in lowest price, grants a discount, and may be cancelled if anything occurs before launch.

This forum was the main reason why I always jumped on the hype train sooner or later...so yes, it's possible that I won't pre-order the game (I'm interested, but not exactly excited so far). But I'll probably end up buying it at some point no matter what.

Probably do what I did for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Hold off for a couple weeks until there's a sale, then grab the deluxe edition. Got DA:I for Xbox One for $45 shortly after it released.

Let's see

I backed Torment: Tides of Numenera

DIvinity: Original Sin 2

Battletech

Also looking forward to

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Tyranny

Vampyr

Telltale's Batman (already played the first chapter)

I no longer really need Bioware to fill my preferred niche anymore.

I'm going to wait. If Dragon Age: Inquisition is any indication, I'll save a lot of money by waiting a few months for the Game of the Year edition.

Pre-Ordering is a bit silly in today's world. Essentially you are giving money to a vendor for a product that you know nothing about. The last game I pre-ordered was Legacy of the Void and I was overly hesitant to do so but I had a great relationship with the vendor (Blizzard, albeit a bit marred by Diablo 3) and I was very happy with the product overall as it was just a fantastic sendoff to the Starcraft story.

Best bet, wait about 2-4 weeks post release to see how everything bounces off each other and pay attention to reviews that focus on the game mechanics and replay ability. At least that is my strategy. I am not really that hyped for ME:A, but then again I don't have much free time for games in general anymore.

Because I am not a moron I'll wait until the media embargo is lifted before i make a decision to buy the game, or any game for that matter. If the media embargo drops soon enough I can even pre-order it after having all the reinvent information to make an INFORMED derision assuming what is see convinces me to buy the game.

WHY the FRAK would anyone buy a game sight unseen? Why is this even a thread? We have no information to actually base any choice on so any choice is based on speculation which is pointless. I have no reason to expect the game to be crap but i don't buy any game sight unseen. I therefore rarely run into issues with buying a crap game. This isn't about deception either many a time I have seen a game that was well received by the public that just wasn't MY cup of tea so i skipped it. I have zero problem with just not playing a game I was hyped about and people love but after watch and reading reviews allowed me to see this wasn't the game for me.
