so last game(inquisition) biower did some uncool things. canceling future dlc for the xbox 360 and ps3. apparently the old consoles were not powerful enough.

now the same is gonna happen. the xbox one and ps4 are going to be less powerful than the neo and scorpio.

will they cancel dlc for andromeda when the xbox one basic cant keep up?

Doubt it very mush. The game was designed for XB1 and PS4.

The PS3/360 were already kind of long in the tooth by the time Inquisition was released, and the next-gens were already around for a while at that point, but the PS4/XB1 have only been out since 2013.

I saw it as possible for DAI and I was sad to see it actually happen.

But no, I really don't see it happening for MEA. Quite a different situation. The 1.5 gens ('Neo'/'Scorpio') will simply run the games better.

However, I don't rule out a 'ME5' and 'DA4' being 'Neo/Scorpio' exclusive. But even then I don't really think so, as they'd more likely just be more highly powered and tightly designed DAI/MEAs thanks to Frostbite (like ME3 after ME2).*

*DA2 and ME3 being 'early 2010s', DAI and MEA being 'mid 2010s', and a potential DA4 and ME5 being 'late 2010s' (not factoring in any other IPs), all having different situations.

I don't really understand why people expect to be able to use old gen consoles for newer games.

Those consoles were around for awhile now, and the gap between their technology to current one is rather ridiculous...

Maybe people expected it to work on PS3, cause it says PS3?

It's not like people tried to put PS4 DAI to PS3's system and wondered why it's not working.

I'm not claiming that Bioware shouldn't back up their promises, I'm talking about ME:A. I was under the impression that some expected it to work on old gen as well.

This.

However, if the game is supported at launch, as DAI was for the old gens, then stopping mid-stream is unconscionable.

I doubt there will be a replay of this with MEA, but since they have done this in the past, what is there they wouldn't?

Alright, I misunderstood then. I haven't seen anyone myself thinking that ME:A would be available on PS3 and XBOX360, if someone does that's pretty delusional. Bioware abandoned old gen middle of DAI so why would they pick them up again for ME:A ^^;

Unfortunately, the latest leaks reveal that there might not even be any DLC for MEA.

Actually Bioware did similar thing with ME3 and Wii U. They released game on Wii U as special edition, packed some DLC's in, but didn't make Citadel DLC and some others available on that system at all. So I guess there is small possibility of Bioware not supporting all systems in terms of some DLCs.

I did not know this.

Sadly, it seems their behavior is consistent in these cases.

On the plus side, we seem to be merging tech as it evolves, i.e. XBox/Win10 and PC/Win10, with UWP on the horizon.

Maybe someday.

At this point, who knows what Bioware is capable of doing?

For what I understand (and hope because otherwise my PS4 will be obsolete before 1 year since I bought it) the NEO and Scorpio will have better hardware that will allow to run games at 4K resolution providing a better experience with PSVR in the case of PS4. In any case will the new consoles outdate the current ones. Probably the only difference in graphics will be the resolution. So no need to worry about not releasing DLCs for current consoles.

It was a mistake for them to sell in on the PS3, but you know...greed.  If you're going to release the base game on PS3, then all DLC for that product should be playable on the PS3.

This doesn't even impact me, because I bought DA:I on PC.  But I think it's a dick move regardless, unless you expressly say, before launch of the base game, that not all DLC will be available on that platform.  Did they say that?

No, they quite suddenly dropped information about it after half year of release. I think they gave info that multiplayer won't get anything new either and game won't be patched anymore for those platforms. And it's not like they even told it straightforwardly, they were kind like: hey we have great news, there is this save transport feature that allows you to move saves from PS3 to PS4 and XBOX similarly. It was just btw in the article itself-> this also means dropping all support for old gen consoles for game.

I was quite mad about that at the time, got my only warning point too. I think I'd have liked to have apology from them, something like sorry we know this is bad news, but they pretty much acted like it was good news and we should be happy.

I vaguely remember reading something about the ps4 neo in which devs, at a certain point, have to support both versions of the console. I don't remember if it was a rumor, leak, etc? Can anyone back me up there?

From what I've read, 4k support for both of those is limited to media only, games will still be limited to 1080p. Considering that even the most powerful (and expensive) single GPU cards today have a hard time running current games at 1440p, let alone 4k, I wouldn't worry about it at all in your place.

The Xbox one works fine just fine.
