Sure would make it a lot harder to spoil the book if we weren't discussing it in the same place. Fans who don't read books won't be able to come read our discussions for the info. Everyone will have to buy the book.

WHY BIOWARE, WHY? (if that's the case, of course)

I still have yet to find the first novel on a US site. It's mildly frustrating. It also tells me that the release date has likely been pushed back, much like the game's release date.

If I'm just lost, please point me in the right direction.

Edit: Plus, we do already have a place to go and discuss our favorite IPs. http://bsn.boards.net is exploding with recognizable "faces" migrating from the forums to our new home.

You should at the very least check it out. I was skeptical, at first. Now, I think the only hurdle we'll face is getting the numbers we need to sustain the community long term. The quality is in place, as you'll find. Quantity is important, too, and will always be a bigger challenge for unofficial forums.

I enjoyed them both, and I expect you will too.

I'm glad they are giving us novels for MEA. Aside from the fact that I'm a voracious reader, it's also typically a good sign for an IP. Books aren't particularly profitable. If an IP features novels, they expect these novels to either do well or to really serve a useful purpose. (Presumably, the purpose in this case would be building additional anticipation and excitement around MEA and the ME IP.)

I don't think they'd waste their time with novels if the previous novels hadn't performed well, and if they didn't believe these would as well.

I just hope they didn't create more enemies than they realized in closing the forums. Everyone downplays the numbers and influence of the crowd here, but I'm not so sure. It was influential enough to cause a huge scene after ME3. It's influential enough to make many in BioWare want it closed since the DA2 days, until now. If there are lots of hurt former-forum members who are no longer willing to buy the novel(s) in a timely fashion, will it hurt our chances to get future novels? I have no idea, since I don't know a great deal about their expectations or the industry itself. I'm just musing, really.

Edit: ugh, typo

I don't think they're closing the official forums for a book that five people will read

Five people you say? We'll see.

It does seem overly optimistic.

I don't think that was the OP's suggestion. He was simply suggesting that it would be an unfortunate twist for those that wanted to come here and discuss it after reading it.

Haven't seen a pub schedule, yet, from Titan Books.

Also, it make sense to tie the book with the game by moving the publication schedule near ME:A's launch date.

I thought Titan Books at least had an "August" listed for the book's release date?

  Do you people not understand that communication about games via a dedicated forum or movies and book is the minority now. Social media in it's various forums has far out stripped these forums. So your premiss makes no sense people will discuss and spoil anyway.

I think the release date did originally say August. I've never seen a single listing for it on a US site, though, and it's now August. I'm assuming the book was delayed to align more closely with the game release.

It's a shame. The novels are often dismissed by the aliterate. Had it been released now, it would've been THE topic of discussion for the foreseeable future. It probably would've outsold all previous BioWare novels combined, given the circumstances. The fact that the author is of such quality may have also encouraged future novel sales. Oh well.

I haven't seen the book listed on any sites either.  Too bad, I've been looking forward to reading it.
