Dragon Age Inquisition wasn't perfect, but it was much better than Dragon Age 2.  Dragon Age Origins may always be the best in my heart, since the design and vision has gone in a different direction than what it start.

However, if the Dragon Age franchise were to die here, I'd be crushed.  It's my number 1 favorite RPG world.  I have sunk countless hours into these games, and I don't want a tactical RPG akin to FF Tactics.  For me that would ruin the series.

Bioware, you might be shutting these forums down within in the month, but I hope you're hearing, loud and clear, that we fans want another game in the series.  We're willing to forgive the mistakes made in DA2 and DAI, because we want to progress in the world Thedas.

I want to see Tevinter, Parvollen, Rivain, Antiva, and Nevarra.  I want to meet the fog warriors.  I want to find the remaining magisters in the deeper roads.  I want to know if Andraste was really the Bride of the Maker or if she was merely a powerful mage who passed into legend.  I want to solve the mytery of the Qunari's origins.  I want to meet those from across the sea.

So come on BW.  Please give us Dragon Age 4.

Dragon Age Inquisition was nearly perfect, but I can agree with you about wanting DA4 already. Hey, they could announce it tomorrow for all we know! It's not very likely, but it could still happen.

Don't fret, I'm sure DA4 is coming.

But don't expect much news. Either EA wants Bioware to keep a lid on their games for the sake of other EA products or their going for the announce-it-several-months-before-release style Fallout 4 introduced.

Honestly that seems to be the safer approach.

I agree that providing the fans with massive amounts of information may be detrimental, but I really hope they still give us clues and hints --> its freaking fun!

With the closing of the forums and no announcements it's not looking good.

I would assume there's a gag order in place until Andromeda is released.

I would also wager that EA and the Bioware heads are probably getting more involved in the development process of the next game(s), making it take longer.

Do we have any idea how DA:I went profitability-wise? It was a rather large project, and must have been expensive, however it's not reached The Witcher 3 levels of hysterical popularity.

I wouldn't mind waiting another couple of years at all for another DA game, however I'd like to know if we're getting it. My bet is that we'll get it however; Dragon Age as a franchise is far too big a thing to just leave behind.

Hell at the rate I play games these days it is going to take me at least that long to get through ME A.

I always hate it when a story (fanfiction) i'm invested in is just....never completed. It would be a shame if a videogame series goes the same route.

That being said, I don't think a big business like EA would just drop it.

I kind of feel like big budget RPGs like DA just aren't profitable enough. It's not a huge market compared to other genres and with modern graphics, animations, combat systems, etc...they're very expensive to make. Cheap, quick mobile/facebook games could potentially turn a lot more profit in a much shorter time span and EA does love profit. I am not hopeful that there will be any more games from BioWare as we knew it after MEA.

Yeah but EA bought bioware to BE their big budget RPG branch.

Sure they might not make as money as the easy to churn out fps games, but as long as things like Witcher 3 are making boatloads of money. EA is gonna try to compete.

Indeed. It's as much about market share and having a finger in every pie as it is about exactly how much each individual game or franchise makes. I doubt they want to concede the field to CDPR and Bethesda and give up on making any money out of fantasy cRPG fans.

And, look, we know that the Dragon Age team is working on SOMETHING. They are not being paid to drink coffee and snark at each other. One of the devs even admitted the other day that it's not just the leads that are working on whatever it is, suggesting that it's moving beyond the proposal stage. It might be the hypothesized spin-off strategy game rather than DA4 right now, but I don't think they'd be making a spin-off strategy game if they weren't planning to continue with the main series. That's not to say that nothing could go wrong - I imagine plans could change rapidly if Mass Effect: Andromeda were a failure, for example - but the Dragon Age series is not cancelled now or there would not be a team tweeting vaguely about it and posting mysterious pictures of wolves and travelling to England for work reasons.

That was quite a few years ago though when more people were making and playing big budget RPGs, fewer people were making and buying indie games and mobile/facebook games weren't the massive thing they are now. It's not like they bought BioWare and then immediately decided to dissolve it before even making one game, they bought it before DA:O came out. I bet they bought all those other game studios for a reason but they ended up dissolving them all the same. TW3 made a huge amount of money because the devs put a huge amount of care and detail into every aspect, didn't treat its' players like children, didn't shy away from the gruesome or distasteful or difficult. EA isn't willing to do that. If you compare the time it takes to make a big budget RPG vs a mobile/facebook/etc...game, the money it takes including salaries for much different sizes of staff, if their big budget RPGs end up being less profitable than the cheap and easy games then they will go with what's more profitable. Maybe that will still be big budget RPGs but it just doesn't seem like it.

As much as I love the DA franchise, I would have been ok if Trespasser was actually the ending of the DA franchise (provided it actually closed meaningful plot threads), but it's easily my favorite game franchise and wait eagerly for the next one. I'm just glad that I'll have more ME to pass the time, or I'd feel a bit lost.
