So...Fextralife is where its at now? The great migration? The Great Journey? More than any other fan forum? I mostly browse Dark Souls there anonymously.
I'm gettin' old. I got nuthin' against being preserved.
Errationatus there,
Errationatus here.
Errationatus everywhere.
Am I in heaven or am I in hell?
That demned elusive Erration... crap. Doesn't rhyme. Hate when that happens.

Thanks!
Everyone listed up to IMPORT 4 is now synched to their mass effect andromeda, dragon age inquisition, dragon age origins posts.
Please wait a bit longer for mass effect 3, 2, 1 and DAO 2.
I will begin gathering Import 5 users.
In the meantime, enjoy this amusing video
I must admit I'm not a great expert on these issues but the point 4 from this page(official of EA) doesn't seem to "encourage" this practice..

Anyway from what i heard from some posts of Conal Pierse he never said they have intention to eliminate the archives.
So, follow up: I've been playing around with the setting on HTTrack to try and find the optimum setting to capture the forums without a bunch of unnecessary extra links. I've been attempting to achieve a (very) small subforum, my early attempts resulted in not capturing all of the posts with in the subforum or capturing a massive amount of links from outside websites.
Fexela, if you don't mind me asking, what setting are you using? Currently, I am pointing it towards the lowest sub-directory (such as: https://forum.biowar...-empire/page*) and I have my max mirroring depth at 2 and my max external depth at 1. This seems to be capturing all of the posts without going too far astray. However, if you have a better solution, please let me know and I will use it, as to make the backups more uniform.
I'm headed to bed shortly, but I'm going to set it to pick up all of the Legacy Games forum, with the exception of NWN 1 & 2, which looks to be about 60,000 posts. If that works out, I'll do NWN 1 & 2, that are standing at 200,000 at the moment. Wish me luck.
Edit: Just realized that those settings may not capture threads that are longer than 3 or 4 pages. Not sure what the work around would be for that, although I'm assuming there is one, since much larger forums have already been transferred. Any advice would be appreciated.
Edit 2: And those settings will only capture the first 3 pages of threads in a forum. I've hit the wall for the moment. If Fexela or someone who is more familiar with HTTrack could provide me with a little direction as to what the setting should be, I'll start it up again. As it is, I should have gone to bed 3 hours ago. Here's hoping for a solution in the morning.

I had to develop my own thing to run through the board and get the info, it was a time consuming process. Unfortunately off-the-shelf products don't do this well, and for anyone to be able to help they would need to be well-versed in Java and mysql.
Still your efforts are useful to keep a local copy that can be used if anything happens to the live board or if we don't finish by the time they go offline.
Another way to help is spreading the word of this thread so more people can get their accounts synchronized! ![]()

Well, I guess if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. After having attempted that, I think I'll leave it to the professionals, like yourself. We are very fortunate as a community to have someone such as yourself willing to go through the effort to preserve the knowledge here.
I know that someone has already made a backup of the original Mass Effect website using HTTrack, which it seems to be more suited toward that type of website layout. I think I'll try to backup the other individual game websites, just in case they disappear along with the forums. If they don't, no harm, no foul, and at least I learned something from the procress.

I'm pretty sure that this board disappears later this year. October, maybe?

They said it will remain read only at least until October but they did not decided what to do after they have some pages archived since 2008-2009
