In order to establish how we came to be in Andromeda, in advance of Andromeda's arrival here on earth, we must first establish how we got there.

I put it to those of you who are left, that in order to do that we must determine what direction we will be travelling in.

This will help us factor in variables such as wind resistance. Something Einstein failed to take into consideration with his theory of general relativity.

But which way is up? We cannot know left from right so long as we do not know up from down.

So we must figure out which way is up, but not here.

In Andromeda.

Because for all we know Andromeda could be facing in the wrong direction. Which would mean all our efforts are for nothing because we will have arrived upside down.

Imagine that if you can.

Its hard enough arriving in a new universe, where nobody speaks the same language as you do, sometimes.

And that's without being upside down on top of it.

So we must figure out which way is up, in space.


I'm going with: it's that way.

Unconfirmed rumor: The story goes that the Alliance caught the brother of Marauder Shields. Then released him. Where ever he went, the arks went in the opposite direction to escape the reapers. Nobody wanted to go to Andromeda, but that's how we got there. By accident.

Much like the discovery of the New World, the Arks were actually trying to go to Triangulum and somehow ended up in Andromeda instead.

 

Unfortunately for the Native Andromedans, this monumental screw up in interstellar navigation lead them to be dubbed "Triangles" by the first humans to encounter them, a name that still is used by (politically incorrect) quarters of the Ark population, even after the blunder was realised.

I'm not exactly sure what you 'really' mean with your comment/thread question. I suppose there's an element of pithy sarcasm embedded between the lines somewhere. Sorry if I missed your point - I can be a little slow on the 'up-take'.
 
My hope is that the prequel book ME Andromeda: Initiation will be an amazing 'heads-up.'  From what we've all seen about the Ark in the E3 trailer, in-flight service is non-existent, so for now I'm inventing a recipe for Ryncol. I've been starting with Citrus vodka and raspberry juice over ice - shaken, not stirred.    Get a few of these under your belt and you'll quickly realize which way is down. At least it's something to focus on after Aug. 26th.  Would the Forum moderators let us sustain a thread on Andromedan cocktail mixology until then?
