I think guard needs to be handled better in next game. Maybe the cost of health, or a non activation of more than less than some % of your health. It gets annoying to fight these dragons and I mean they have invisible health bars, like a spec no tinier than this * and they get a full bar of guard.
Almost all enemies do it.

Dragon Guard is very easy to get through. Some abilities do extra damage against guard, especially some warrior abilities, so look into acquiring at least one of those.

I do have several abilities that get past guard. I also equip my skills on my forged clothes to get pass guard and we can cut down it pretty quickly, if Dorian would use some of his fire abilities please. What the **** does my AI do stand around and basic attack most of the time, and you're like I gave you abilities use them.
Eitherway though, because we're fighting templars I focus on guard penetration as one of my skills.
Still doesn't make it any less annoying to have the opponent at a sliver of health, barely hanging on, pull up full guard.
The dragon at the time was this ..............................................far from us, because she had just jumped somewhere else. When she did so she put up her guard, and she literally had the smallest bar of red. It was the most annoying thing in the world at that time because I just wanted her dead at that point.

yes, and no. There was one (I forget which dragon) that kept his guard up constantly. It was the most annoying thing ever. Once, twice, maybe 3 times at most during a battle... Okay, that's not a problem. This one I swear activated her guard 20 times throughout the duration of the battle. It was the most grueling of any of the dragon battles. Easy yes, just annoying because I know I have that ability to kill it, but it actually took over an hour to accomplish it and me cursing at the monitor for about half of it..... every time his guard went up.... I'm cursing at the monitor. LOL
