Ive played Trespasser, but are the other two DLCs for Inquisition worth playing?

I guess I'm asking if they're more along the lines of Witch Hunt or Golems.

Eh, I mean do they add anything cool to the lore or story? Or are they more about adding just another dungeon?

For example, With Hunt added a lot to Morrigans story and added some cool lore about dwarves and elves.

Golems of A, just had the hardest boss in Origins with nothing else really added. It doesn't even get a spot in the Keep.

The descent is more similar to Golems of Amgarrak, if you like combat you should buy this DLC (I had an awesome 1h battle playing in nightmare) and Jaws of Hakkon is another new giant area full of side quest with a main mission with some lore about the old inquisition.

Between Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent, I prefer The Descent but it depends whether you like the Deep Roads or not. I think JOH is similar to the rest of DAI and The Descent brings back some memories about DAO which IMO is a good thing.

Regarding lore, both provide interesting lore:

  • The Descent: Dwarf and lyrium lore. A single Keep Tile (finished the DLC or not so not much relevant to DA4)
  • Jaws of Hakkon: old Inquisition and Avvar lore (and bear puns :D). Add some Tiles to the Keep but I don't think those will add anything important to DA4.

JOH is basically a very well done bonus zone from the vanilla game. Think the Fallow Mire pumped up to the max with new lore thrown in.

Descent is a long dungeon crawl with lore thrown in.

I don't regret either of them, but I also don't think they're necessary purchases.

Sounds like JOH is more of what I was hoping for. I think I'll get it with my Origin points if it let's me.

JoH is another zone basically, with Inquisition back story and a new tribe of ppl.

I'd liken The Descent to Omega DLC in ME3.  It's mostly combat, difficult combat at that, with unnecessary collectables.  I wasn't a fan, if you don't want 3 levels of deep roads followed by 3 levels of caverns then you can skip it.  Just watch the ending on Youtube or read a synopsis so that you can learn about the titans.

It just depends on whether you want a hard 5 hour long combat challenge or not.  I'm more into story so it wasn't for me.

The Descent is mostly a "hardcore" dungeon crawl sort of thing, very much like Golems of Almgarak (sp?). I liked it better though, the giant darkspawn battle in the middle of it is seriously awesome and legitimately challening. I also ended up picking up the best dagger and dagger schematic in the game, IMO. Stone Stalker Blade I think it's called. A 400-500 damage single target dagger with 10% chance of hidden blades and +21 dex. So if you're playing a rogue I'd say it's worth it for that.

I really enjoyed all 3 myself. As an Avvar fan, I thought Jaws was pretty fun but the [brief] encounter with Ameridan sort of makes it a must for me on every playthrough. Descent is easily the weakest of the lot to me, but it has pretty good battles (accompanied by a pretty great score) and some good reveals. Trespasser is the obvious must since it completes the Inquisition story, but it's easily the best one as well, to me.

Jaws of Hakkon contains a fair bit of lore about the Avvar, the first Inquisition and the history of Thedas. It concerns an Avvar cult planning to bring back their god, Hakkon Wintersbreath, to wreak havoc on the lowlands. It is a fairly-challenging DLC for post-level 20 characters and has some good gear.

The Descent is a straight-up dungeon crawl with some of the toughest fights in Dragon Age. It contains some pretty major lore revelations regarding the origin of dwarves and the nature of lyrium. Besides introducing new models for the darkspawn, it also brings in a new type of enemy that can be pretty challenging.

Note: Trespasser is the final adventure of the Inquisitor for obvious reasons. Don't get the other DLCs expecting you can start them after Trespasser.

Oooh, you sold me on Descent... I love the dwarven lore and I wasn't even aware there were new darkspawn models.  I need to see if they fixed them :P

No, they basically resemble the models from DA2.

If you liked any bit of the Deep Roads, the Descent is worth it. Loved it, personally, and I found the difficulty to be nowhere as terrifying as anyone said. Then again, I was level twenty (or so) when I went into it, and the hardest part on it was really a mistake of my own. I'd been switching party members to get different combinations, and didn't have anyone with Dispel slotted in, making a particular boss fight a wee bit annoying. Not a good idea, in hindsight.

You'd be glad to know that Descent brings the shrieks back to the fold.

All in all? Yes. Descent adds cool fighting, and proper Deep Roads (missing... arguably just as good as Origins Deep Roads). I just wish the Darkspawn were the whole threat, since the second half of the DLC... may lose out the tiniest bit. Other than that, it's a dungeon crawler, a lot like the original Deep Roads in Origins and 2.

Then there's Jaws of Hakkon. Lots of stuff about who the previous Inquisitor was, and an awesome moment towards the end... Plus it adds one more Dragon to fight to the game!

I've been playing through Jaws of Hakkon.  You all failed to tell me that this DLC has so much more of Scout Harding in it!  That alone is worth the buy. :P

I just hate Deep Roads passionately, but truth to be said, I found The Descent quite... enjoyable. Last location was simply stunning and if only all the places in the Deep Roads would look like that... *sigh*

Also, The Descent is quite important lore-wise (dwarves, lyrium), I guess you wouldn't want to miss it if you like to know it all about Thedas.

Anyways, I give this DLC decent score of 7.5/10.

After your recommendations, I bought and have now played both DLCs. They were both quite enjoyable. I think I liked Descent more than Jaws of Hakkon actually. It's actually inspired me to finish my "Ideal Dwarven World State" playthrough.

The weapons for JoH look like ****, while the Descent weapons look badass. But the opposite is true for the armors. The only one who looks good in the Descent armors is Iron Bull, with those massive spikes on his shoulders.
