Suicide mission. I have everyone loyal. Miranda is the one who shields us, I chose her because she said technically any biotic can do it, so here, you have a chance to prove it. Although she barely made the whole way down, she managed to prove her damn hypothesis right. :D The problem is I took Thane and Mordin with me (I always take only the comps that I enjoy being with the most). Miranda makes it However Thane dies. What a waste for such an asssassin to be taken away by some bees. WHAT AM I GOING TO TELL HISS SON? That is no honorable way of going out, especially for such an badass! :D

So here my question. Besides assigning the best specialists for each and every task, does it matter who i take in my party? Does it somehow randomly generates who dies? So I can just take replaceable fools with me (Jack and Legion in mind) and be safe? In short: Should I be wise with who I'm taking with me aswell? Because if so, I'm damn restarting the mission.

Jack and Samara are the best ones to have holding the bubble. Anyone else will end up with a lost squaddie.

There's a whole chart detailing the consequences of certain choices in the Suicide Mission, but I don't have a link handy atm. Squad composition doesn't really do anything until the final fight, in which you will have to avoid taking Garrus, Grunt, and/or Zaeed (if you have his DLC) or risk losing more squaddies. If you sent one of them back with the crew, then you definitly need the leave the others behind and bring squaddies like Mordin or Tali (maybe Thane too, if you get to reload to before you decide on the bubble-holder). The last fight is a tough one, but as long as you focus on the boss for most of the time and stick to cover, you should be fine.

btw, the reason I said to leave Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed behind is because every squaddie has a 'defense rating'. Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed have the highest out of everyone (Tali and Mordin being the lowest), so leaving them behind has the highest chance of making sure everyone survives. If you don't have a high enough defense rating (whether due to loyalty, squad make up, or lack of squaddies), the squaddies with the lowest defense rating will die first.

Just know that Miranda or loyal Garrus are the best options for the squad leaders.

Just finished game.

I took Zaeed in final battle and everyone survived. (why not to pick him?) Lost only Jack to the bees, but she is the only I don't mind losing anyway.

Yeap, Garrus proves why he has always been my second in command. MAH MAYAN!

And I've never really felt Miranda as being a good leader. If not for Garrus, Tali then Jacob would of have been my next pick BTW :D

As long as you had at least Grunt and Garrus, Zaeed and Grunt, or Garrus and Zaeed behind, your defense score should've been high enough to prevent squaddies from dying. I didn't know if you had Zaeed's DLC and I didn't know who you set to escort the crew, hence me advising against bringing any of them.

As for having Garrus be the squad leader, I always do that in every playthrough. Garrus had actual experience leading a team in combat situations, not to mention formal turian military training and was more likely to inspire loyalty from those following him. That, and he's my bro :P

Miranda, however, is scripted to not lose anyone regardless of whether or not she's loyal as squad leader. Seems a bit odd to me, but there it is.

Also, fixed your post ;)

Miranda will indeed lose a squadmate.  She might be considered powerful for a human biotic, but she is no where in the league of Samarra (Nearly as strong as an Asari Matriarch) or Jack (one of the most powerful human biotics in the galaxy).

Somehow I was convinced Jack excels at wrecking **** and this just isn't the task for her. What a coincidence it's exactly Miranda because of whom she dies. :D

I wonder if someone actually thought it was a good idea to appoint Thane of this one. AHAAHAHA

Or Jacob.

Still, I've felt that Samara and Jack were comparable in terms of biotic power. In Jack's case, it's more raw and more along the lines of brute strength (which can work in a defensive capability, if she stays focused on that), while with Samara it's more refined and precise like it is with asari in general (asari are taught how to use biotics as part of their general education). And this is taking into account that Samara is almost on par with asari matriarchs who are the most powerful biotics in the galaxy, iirc.
