I knew on a second playthrough that it's required to find the guns again in order to level them up to X. I assumed that everything else such as mods, armor, etc. must also be found a second time which turned out to be false. My question is, what about mods that you missed the first time around? Will they still show up during missions where they were missed the first time or are the mods pickups gone completely on a imported character?

Secondly, XP is obviously no longer given out to those that already reached level 60 the first time around, but can money still be found during missions? Leveling up guns to X is getting expensive.

Armor pieces you missed in the first playthrough can be picked up in subsequent playthroughs with the same ME3 character.

For any mods are not at level V, you can find them on missions until they reach level V.

Intel, war assets, and fetch quest items must be picked up again on subsequent playthroughs (they do not carry over).

Your remaining credits from the previous playthrough carry over, but you can earn + pick up the same credits again in missions.

Picking up weapons in NG+ will add three levels to the weapon (for example, V --> VIII, or VII --> X). Yes, upgrading weapons from V to X is expensive. You can get a +5% store discount immediately after Mars from scanning the galaxy. I think it's from the Intact Reaper Weapon intel if I recall. You can get another +5% store discount from Matriarch Gallae's Signature intel from the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery mission.

So after Mars, I would get the first +5% store discount and upgrade a few weapons to VII. After the Citadel Coup, I would go to the monastery mission to get the next +5% store discount (for +10% discount) and upgrade a few more weapons. Ideally, if you know what weapons are available in which missions, you can plan around your weapon upgrades.

For example, you can upgrade the following with a 5% discount:

 - Manae: Viper, Scimitar

 - Eden Prime: Prothean Particle Rifle (if you wait until after the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery, you can get it at a 10% discount)

 - Sur'Kesh: Scorpion, Raptor

 - Utukku (Missing Krogan scouts): Claymore

 - Grissom Academy: Mattock, Eviscerator

 - The Shroud (Tuchanka): Graal, Phalanx

 - Citadel Coup: Talon, Hornet

 - Ardat-Yakshi Monastery: Disciple

The Avenger, Vindicator, Katana, Mantis, and Shuriken are found on Vancouver or Mars so they are automatically upgraded without a store discount.

There is a bug that prevents the Predator from being upgraded beyond VII without modding your game save (PC only I think).

The Suppressor you get at the beginning of the Citadel DLC is not the true Suppressor, so the actual Supressor will not automatically gain any levels. So if you upgraded it to V on your first playthrough, it will stay at V in your second playthrough.

Picking up weapons in NG+ only applies ONCE. So if you play a full game, then NG+, then NG++ (NG+ with the character that played the game twice), you cannot pick up weapons a third time. So if you pick up the Mantis on Mars in the second playthrough, the Mantis will no longer be available for pickup on the third playthrough. this prevents getting a weapon from V -- VIII for free on NG+ and then from VIII --> X for free on NG++.
