It totally dumbfounds me the amount of "WIN 10" haters that haven't even tried it....., just like sheep.., they all follow the Win 10 is garbage because it's Microsoft..., Huh.

I would not think it would be exclusive for any operating system.., that wouldn't be very clever of any gaming company.., but please, stop the "I hate Win 10"if you haven't even had the decency to try it.
I have tried them all.., from Win 3.1 onwards and think Win 10 is as good or better than Win XP and certainly better than Win 7 or 8/8.1.
I have not had a single piece of hardware or software that has not run on it yet and if you are worried about security concerns...., don't for 1 second think "YOUR" operating system company is not collecting data on you.

Cheers

What about automatic system updates that the user has supposedly no control over? I have no idea how it actually works, but OS update is one of the funniest causes of lost HC chars and I've personally been part of several wipes is WoW when someone just yelled "F that, Win update!". I've heard some interesting stories about this in Win 10.

Frankly, I didn't find much of a difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10, once I played around with the settings.  A lot of people immediately hate new operating systems simply because they're unfamiliar and a pain in the ass to get acquainted with.  You need to test for an extended period of time to know how you really feel about it.

I think Microsoft's habit of releasing good OS, bad OS, good, OS, bad OS, good OS, etc. has continued.  Vista and 8 were crappy.  XP, 7, and 10 are good.

I'd stick with W10 if I were you OP; just play with the settings until it's more to your liking.

Seems like a double edged sword, but for anyone who cares, Windows updates in Windows 10 can actually be disabled via the Services application located within the Administrative Tools folder located in Control Panel (The older control panel, not the newer one which is ugly). The Windows Update services will be nearer the bottom, disable it (it does not re-enable itself at least not when i tried it with it off for a while) and then windows will not be able to contact Microsoft and download updates.

There is no real reason to upgrade to W10 now even if you don't care about privacy.

Let others find the cracks and the bugs in the software.

Join in a few years when some of the problems and concerns are solved, and when games start to actually demand it.

You say this like most PC game devs go, "Hey, let's develop using mostly Windows 7 features" -- despite the fact that such'd be totally counterproductive.

Windows 7 was released to production almost 7 years ago at this point, and the latest service pack was released over 5 years ago. No game dev studio worth their salt thinks about Windows 7 as a primary concern. It just so happens that most hardware today still works ok with Windows 7, and hardware is more of a concern than whether you're using Windows 7 or Windows 10 (luckily for Windows 7 users).

I was mostly referring to the fact that DX12 is supposed to be W10 exclusive.

Theoretically, a video game may demand DX12.

I find Win10 really good.  Ugly and confusing at first, but you get used to it. I recently upgraded my third and last Win7 PC to 10.  ...Because I couldn't stand Win7 anymore.

Well, the thing is MS has really bad track record. Win 8 and Vista were pretty much useless until first Service Pack, Win 7 at release were worse than XP and don't forget that travesty that was Win Millenium. Now considering that I've heard more complaints about Win 10 than 7 (not to mention 8) concerning new games, it's probably better to wait for MS to get their crap together.
