As I'm sure you've noticed, this aspect of the debate is very similar to debates over ME1's UNC worlds.

Oh definitly.

Although I think due to the structure of the UNC worlds and story progression the issues with Mass Effect 1 show itself more. You can make that argument with Inquisition too, really.

The difference is of course, that NMS seems like an entire game of exploring UNC worlds, rather than a side activity.

Shifty Cow makes UNC worlds thousand times better than NMS.

Okay I take my previous post back. This game deserves the backlash, at least from anyone who closely followed Sean Murray's BS artistry. I didn't, and didn't realize it had gotten so ridiculous. This is Molyneaux magnitude of BS.

Yeah, it wasn't just people making up hype in their heads. The developpers promised and/or mentioned a lot of things that aren't in the base game, even a few months before release. It probably doesn't help that many people want to play these kinds sandbox, space simulation games, and there aren't as many of them as, say, RPGs or FPSs. So whenever one shows up, many hopes and dreams are placed into them, fueling the hype further.

Or just fucked up alien creatures.

Something I enjoy at least. I love the speculative alien animal design.

If im brutally honest im hoping with the shutdown of these forums its a indication of BioWare changing direction in there games an with the direction of the way they make games being changed they know it will cause anger with ppl who inhabit these forums so hence the shutdown.

Having playing all there games 1 after the other continuously over the years i can also say there format is getting kinda boring an very predictable, heck the only difference lately between DA an ME is the setting, each game is basically go recruit then fight an that was that, to most "same" is great to me it gets right boring knowing how things will be in a game before u even buy it.

Im honestly hoping ME:A will be a Destiny/Division type game with none of the problems, i really hope with nothing much being released about ME:A an the announcement this place being shutdown that this is the case an BioWare has finally decided to take the jump an try something new

Even if you connect it to the minor complaints players had about DAI and cut content it doesn't actually relate in any logical way. Content was cut and altered in DAI because they had to make the game work for last-gen consoles, not because they weren't capable of delivering on promises. The things they showed some audiences and later cut worked just fine, otherwise they wouldn't have been shown. And only a tiny minority of players even knew about those shakycam videos of cut content, so why exactly would BioWare be so thoroughly gun shy?

I don't have a problem with the cut Crestwood content as the time limit or whatever it was it was a gimmick that wouldn't play well. Bioware did lie about a bunch of stuff, most significantly that it is a PC game made for PC gamers that in reality was a broken port with poor controls.

I've never understood the hysteria from my fellow PC players. Anybody who played Skyrim could have handled the DAI controls with no problem, and the tac cam works like the one in the Total War series.

Sure, the default keys use the same dopey defaults that DA:O used, but only an imbecile would play using keymappings he doesn't like.
