Welcome to the BioWare Continuity Network!

I spread this link around in a few threads late last week when I threw up the site, but I might as well toss up a separate thread for better visibility.

Moderators, if you could sticky this, that would help it grab attention once the forum has gone read-only.

The goal of the site is simply to convey information about the closure. Information about what's happening to user content, BW's content, new forums, preservation and archiving efforts, etc. It's great to put all that information here, but come late October, it will be gone.

Please visit the site and help us build hits prior to October, so Google knows we're here :)

Have a look at Networking Between Forums. It's a BSN sticky. Post it there, or maybe you can PM the OP to add it to the first post?

There's been some concern about one of the sites on your Replacement Forums list. I suggest that you pm Lady Artifice, the OP of the Networking Thread, about the matter as she has removed that site from the networking list.

That was one of the threads I posted in. However, posting in a thread means it will get buried. The site needs it's own thread :)

If Lady Artifice wants to PM me, she can. I haven't been involved with the community politics of these forums since I left (for the most part) in 2013.  The list the BCN has posted is not a list of recommendations; it's simply a list of the major sites that are available. If folks join a site and it's not to their taste, then they are of course free to leave.

The point was to get this information off of these threads and onto a website that can build up search engine hits, since they will be gone come late October. :)

I endorse your effort to keep this community together. However, you are not the center of the world. If you want a favor then "If Lady Artifice wants to PM me, she can." absolutely doesn't make sense. Clearly, you don't want that favor.

Suggestion: do a little more search engine optimization for "bioware forum", which is the most likely search string people will use who don't know about the closure. Using that search, your blog is on page 7. Fexelea's forum post on Fextralife is on page 3. BioFan's blog post is on page 6.

Page 1 might not be possible now due to all the news coverage (even Forbes!), but over time some of the news articles about the closure will fall off, so shoot for page 2.

One of the primary functions of the BCN is to facilitate info on where to download soon-to-be-removed-in-the-future-we-don't-know-when mods. We have made a master list so that people in the future will know where to look. With Fexelea scraping the forums and preserving them that way, we started on mod preservation. It is a long task and we have no idea when they will be removed. We have no idea what BW has plans for their own patchers, either, in regards to people who did not buy games through Origin. At some point someone who has been gone for a year or two will come back and think 'wtf happened?" and the BCN website is a good jump point to help them.

On note: Because of all of the mod downloading I finally found a nice way to hide ME2 helms. So you know, that's always good.

Fextralife is also a forum in itself and has been around longer.

Short of post tagging (which I"m already doing), do you have any other suggestions? Changing the URL at this point really isn't an option we'd want to explore.

Actually I like the idea of the 'neutral' hub which does not belong to any of the splinters and which is going to stay afloat after the RO\ going down. For now we've got the sticky, but no one would be able to add\change things after the 26/08. Could be some sort of the 'community digest' highlighting any things worth mentioning, that's if OP has intentions about keeping it up-to-date.

Nothing big, but don't forget about alts, bolds, hovers and headers. Basically you want as much keywords on your page as you can get without becoming an obvious SE-spammer. And - links, of course. The more the better.

Probably you can communicate with rest of the forums about cross-linking and making some sort of 'circle' - people who'd found them also find you and vice-versa.

Amusingly, this forum appears to make backlinks 'google-unfriendly',

so even if there weren't only 66 days of life here, any SEO value of this forum to the splinters appears to be moot.

Update on the BCN Website:

-- Status of Felexea's forum imports has been updated (Felexea, let me know if I'm missing anything)

-- The Refuge added to the new forum community list (very nice looking forum)

We may soon be putting up a page with the list of a mod authors we're trying to contact. That way folks won't need to hit up the spreadsheet to check. Instead, it'll be more visible on the website. Keep an eye out for that :)

One day when someone searches "where is Bioware?" No longer will it say "Edmonton, Ass of Alberta" but instead it will point to your website.
