The whole the QUN is evil discussion aside. Okay the way I took it was iron bull was having a crisis of faith and was trying not to lose what his life was once based around. He was sent out as a spy and found himself trying to hold on to what he should be in his mind and what he was becoming. And he flat out said the QUN should not expand. I think that while he makes a good sale of some of it it sounds like he is faking it.
I didn't get how ironbull gets lumped in with EVil qun discussions

Of course he is. There are things he hates about it, but he obeys anyway. He's basically brainwashed and conflicted. So he either chooses to leave it or embrace it, or he remains conflicted until the point in time when he makes the choice to embrace it. This isn't necessarily because he believes in the Qun, but rather because he thinks he can't live without it.
