Eurogamer: Back at E3 you guys showed a pretty broad range of things, we had smaller projects in the vein of Unravel, a look at Mass Effect, Star Wars... If not at gamescom, when might we hear more about those other projects?

Peter Moore: Well... first of all I'm here to speak about competitive gaming, really. But secondly, if you're a Mass Effect fan you know what BioWare does - they're like the chef cooking in the kitchen for as long as it takes. We leave them alone, the game's still on target, and I'd say six, seven months out you'll begin to hear more.

I really hope that he mistaken Release Date for promo compaign. I really do.

6-7 months is about to be march-april, which is what MEA was aimed at. I really-really hope that Peter just mistaken.

According to Peter Soderlund, MEA promo compaign will begin very soon http://www.gameinfor...remastered.aspx

One of Peters are clearly mistaken. Million-dollar question is - who exactly?

I wouldn't really be surprised if ME:A is going to be delayed. And if it means higher quality I'm all for it.

We're about 7 months out from the end of the current release window right now and there's no indication that the marketing is happening any time soon. I would say that that's a pretty solid sign that the game is going to be delayed again.

At some point you have to ship the game. You can't keep delaying it.

I honestly don't think delaying a game hurts its prospects.  But releasing an unpolished game does.

So...closing the forums, and now EA basically said 'DELAY'.  Either Bioware is wrong, or EA is.  Maybe he wasn't supposed to say that until AFTER the 26th?

I would not be surprised if it were delayed, given the lack of substantive information we have so far. And it would make a stronger reason for closing these boards if Bio knows that MEA won't be released when the community predicts, and they want to avoid riots when they announce the delay.

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere.

Plenty of games don't reveal much of any info or in-game footage over 6 months prior to release. Personally, I like the fact that so much of the game experience hasn't already been revealed/spoiled before release. Avoiding that terrible trend in pop culture is preferable.

I can wait as long as they use those time to polish story and gameplay. But please, please do not make it a sandbox simulation.

I would actually be shocked if it gets delayed again.

Especially considering how everyone is frowning upon the game due to the delays and lack of info. If they are really in the polish stage at this point a delay would be a red flag that something has gone wrong.

The way I see it delays (within reason) are better than a rushed product that leads to a negative or mixed response.

And I'm referring to the perspective of the company as well, not just the consumer.

The question is, what is meant with "polish stage" anyway? Making something that already works well extra shiny?

Most of the time these days, "polish" means that it's still so unstable that they fear the customer backlash more than the shareholder complaints about a delay. But that's not what the word "polish" means, that's "technical difficulties".

Yeah, especially since many games come out in a sort of unofficial beta state and are patched only after release.

But to be fair, ME3 came out without any glaring technical difficulties (at least on the SP side) that I can remember.

(and aside from the fact that everything from a certain point towards the end felt rushed)

Every time I see "polish", I read it as "from Poland". So now I'm imagining theater in Warsaw. Nice city, but their escalator ruined my shoe, so not a big fan (I'm just thankful it had thick sole, better ruined shoe than shredded foot).

Well even as a company, the game has been delayed for that very reason, so I doubt it will get another unless again something major happens. I also get the feeling that at this point any sort of rush is impossible if it's in the last legs of development, outside of ironing out bugs and stuff of that nature.

ETA: There was one major bug that got fixed early, and that was a save transfer bug in Mass Effect 3 that wouldn't import your shepard character from 2.

Remember when ME3 got delayed? Then MP and Kinect support got confirmed. What wondorous additions could the next supposed delay bring?

My bet is on VR romance scenes. This one was free, EA.

They did botch the souffle for Dragon Age II by letting it out of the oven too early...

Yeah,it does suggest (given EA's track record) that everything said about ME-A in the interview is pure PR speak, the guy's just not prepared to talk. The only reason ME was mentioned was due to EA's portfolio of lack lustre titles due for release......if you don't like FPS or sports......EA has nothing to offer until ME.

Actually, that FPS is the very reason they aren't focusing on ME:A right now... Battlefield 1 is a huge deal in the gaming world and they are rightfully focusing on its marketing since it is due before ME:A.

And given how they gave DA:I time and didn't rush it and have given this game time, it seems  more like EA has learned from its mistakes instead of simply spouting PR nonsense like some claim here.
