My wife is playing an imported second playtyhrough of Mass Effect 3 and just recently had lunch with Kaidan at Apollos. Unlike the first playthrough where he admitted his feelings for Shepard (She romanced Kaidan in the first, Thane in the second) this time it was a strictly friendly conversation ending with Shepard stating that Kaidan was like a brother. What stopped the romance conversation from triggering again? Thane's dead and her Shepard already turned down Liara and Traynor so shouldn't Shepard be considered single now? Her main romantic focus this game has been Vega but seeing the circumstances of that route that shouldn't have stopped Kaidan from asking right?

 

Second question, Shepard was at the hospital and Kaidan's hospital room door had no way in to it but when looking through the glass it gave the option to talk to him about getting released, becoming a spectre, etc. After the scene, her Shepard found herself locked in the hospital room with Kaidan. There was literally no way out. After reloading, she never got the actual email to come talk to him a second time. Is this a known bug?

Did Shepard buy him the booze? Always choose the paragon dialogue? Even on Mars?

 

I've never heard of the problem you mentioned. Maybe try reloading from an earlier save, before getting to the hospital or even the Citadel, to see if that fixes the issue.

She was paragon with her responses up to Citadel 2 where she talked him down via the renegade route. Wasn't no biggie since she had no interest in romancing him again. But after all this time it was the first time we had ever seen that scene without the romance option brought up and was curious.

 

Unfortunately, the only other save we had at that point was the autosave which brought us back to arriving at the hospital and nothing changed. Door had no way in and apparently the only way in was, i guess phasing through the glass (Even though that wasn't seen and Shepard was randomly in the room.) She obviously avoided that mistake again and the chance to talk to him a second time never came around. Tried searching online to see if anyone else had ever had that problem and found nothing.

I've only had the problem once, with a new Shepard created for ME3.  Also, I think I tweaked some things using Gibbed that may have messed something up.  No matter what I tried - and I gave Kaidan the whiskey - I only ever got the "like a brother" dialogue.
