Since these forums are closing soon, I figured I'd take this last opportunity to write something "from my heart".

I remember, back when I was a kid, my father bought a game. This game was Baldur's Gate 2. I barely understood what was going on, but something in it caught my attention. And I tried to play it! It was hard. Or seemed to be hard. But getting things done, even if it was just making it past one difficult fight, made me happy.

Baldur's Gate was *the* game that got me into RPGs. If not for it, I'd probably never play all the games I've played by now. It was the game that introduced me to the world of video games, with their awesome stories and characters and music. As funny as it sounds, it shaped me in a way.

And for that, I'm grateful. So I want to say "thank you" for all the games you created. For all those awesome stories and characters and more. They were - and still are - a part of my life. They inspire me. They are one of the reasons I started drawing, one of the reasons I want to be able to create a story of my own one day.

If not for those games, I wouldn't even be able to speak English today. They were what made me learn this language properly.

I don't know the real reason behind the decision to close this forum, so I won't judge. However, it does make me sad. It makes certain kinds of feedback if not impossible, then at least highly unlikely. It scatters the community. It destroys thousands of pages of character analysis and lore discussions, as well as threads that help with bug solving, discuss builds and strategies, and more. It makes me wonder if there wasn't any other - better - way out.

But if that's the final decision, I can only hope that it was worth it.

Destruction can be justified if you intend to build something better instead. I want to remain an optimist and hope that while this forum might be gone, another will take its place in due time. Because games *need* a community. Game developers need a community. There are tons of wonderful people here; some of them have been supporting you and your games from the very beginning. Scattering them like this seems like a big loss.

P.S. I also want to say "thank you" to all the people here on the BSN - I might not have been posting much, but a lot of things were interesting to read. I hope everyone will find a new "home", and that no friends will get lost. All the best to you, guys! Stand strong.
