It has been 1561 days since I joined the BSN boards in the wake of ME3's release, and now this time is at an end. One of the first things to happen in my long and illustrious career on these boards was the infamous Miranda Civil War and the closure of the romance and character sub-forums and I think that set the tone for the rest of my time here quite nicely.
Since those long ago days of yore, I've made friends (looking at you Deinonslayer wherever you went, the Miranda fan thread, the IT group, the RDF, the Ghosts, members of TSG, others) and met people who I am less inclined to want a knock a beer back with (glaring at you Xil, Plaintiff, Lobs), and those who for all of their trolling, insanity, and other shenanigans I cannot but help miss on some level (staring in bewilderment at you David7204, Auld Wulf, N7Phantom).
Alas these times are at an end, cut short by whatever insane self-defeating logic BioWare has group!thinked its way into. I loved every second of it, whether it was arguing for the umpteenth time over the geth/quarians or the mages/templars, whether DA2 was a good game (it wasn't) or how many issues sans the endings that ME3 had (a lot). You guys made it all an exercise, sometimes in futility, but an exercise nonetheless.
BioWare I have not begged you to keep the forums open, I have not demanded that you listen to our impotent rage on these boards, nevertheless here is some unsolicited and what will almost certainly be unread advice. Time for a shakeup. Your company has been circling the drain for some time now, and DA:I is looking more and more to have been a last gasp of brilliance long past rather than a true return to form. Your stubbornness, your refusal to engage honestly with critics as well as drones. and your projection of a belief that everything is fine while you have been left behind by other companies. Those seeking engaging RPG depth have other alternatives, Obsidian for their silent protagonists and skill/attribute based games, CDPR for engrossing plots, characters, and mature story telling, even Bethesda got in on the game with Fallout 4, what then is your current reason to exist? You need to figure it out, not to reclaim your crown, that has long since left you, but to try and retain some sort of dignity in the eyes of your fans. More likely you will instead simply fall into the pit of other EA "has been" companies.
It is still comforting however, that in the dying hours of this place, despite the best efforts of your utterly incompetent, nonsensical, and arbitrary "moderation" people here still want to be together and share ideas (both worthwhile and others of the "Tali's sweat" variety.
And a note on the moderation since I will either be banned anyways or since this forum is about to be closed. What on God's good green Earth where you thinking when you put in the Botmods. I have never seen such ridiculously incompetent and selective moderation anywhere. For all the faults that the volunteer moderators and staff members had (such as Allan accidentally banning me for months) you botmods managed to outdo even that with your ridiculousness and schizophrenic tendencies. So all of you guys can go find the business end of a pitchfork and use it as a Pogo-stick, except you BotMod 2, you're always welcome to drop me a line.
I will look fondly back on these times, even the times I was called steelc*nt by the SJW filth of the elf/Dalish support groups who all need a reality check and some intensive therapy, N7Phantom who should be beaten with a history book over the head til it gets in his system via osmosis, being called a bigot for being white and straight by Plantiff or baiting him with repeated pictures of Amon from Legend of Korra (lol @him thinking he was the good guy), or shaking my head in disbelief at the ridiculousness of our Lord and Savior David7204 with his message of HEROISM and GOOD CHARACTERIZATION, but perhaps most of all I will miss Auld Wulf, and his glorious insults (genocide fetishist takes the take), his melt-down via blog posts, or his ridiculous and insane logic that would make sense in a Dali painting and nowhere else.
So I bid you all a fond and bittersweet farewell at this time.
