I survived...Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Thane all died...by design. I was wondering anyone know what is the least amount of people you can make it through with? 5 is the least I've seen it done with so far.I had six if you incude Zaeed.

I managed to survive with only Legion getting a round in the...optical lens thingy. Apparently robots aren't that good with tech...

Saw a youtube video where the guy managed to lose every single person, and then fall to his death. Even though I know it ain't gonna happen, I wish you could play as Joker in the next game should you get that ending.

First time, I lost Garrus to the swarms. It had upset me, but I had to see the mission to the end.

Second time, I got everyone through.

Third time, I only had Garrus' and Tali's loyalty and no upgrades. I purposely chose bad decisions, (Jacob for the vents, Miranda for the biotic, Grunt for second secondary team, etc.) I had Tali and Garrus with me for the first part, Samara and Mordin for the second, and Garrus and Tali for the finale.

When Shepard went onto the platform to start his speech, I laughed because there was only 4 other members there. Anyways, Shepard, Chakwas, Garrus, Tali and Jacob were the only survivors.

Just finished the first run through and survived with no casualties. All party members and crew made it through alive much to my surprise.

Robots are very, very good with tech.  Most likely you didn't do his loyalty mission?  Legion survives if you sent him through the vents and he's loyal.

Limping through ME3 with no weapons and an EDI voiceover guiding you the whole way?

Oddly enough, I did Legion's loyalty mission. Heck, the only loyalty mission I didn't do was Samara's, and she somehow lived.

And yes, for too long the handicapped have been on the sidelines! Now we need a cripple to lead the galaxy to salvation!

I survived and saved everyone.

Hooray!!!

Garrus was the squad leader of every secondary squad. Tali went through the ducts, Grunt escorted the crew back, took Miranda and Mordin with me to the final battle.

And Samara had the biotic force field.

Didn't recruit Zaeed in the playthrough, he rubs me the wrong way.

Is there any rhyme or reason to who lives and who dies? I sent Zaeed to lead the second team because he's supposedly a veteran (and he was loyal) but he didn't make it. Tali died but she was my only unloyal squadmate so no surprises there.

I did my first playthrough as my selfish, power hungry renegade. Now I have two dead squad members and a dead crew. Very sad. But that's life as a badass... :(

Onto my second playthrough.

Anyone got a clue how the "who survives?" system works?

For me, Grunt died, he was the second 2nd squad leader, no clue why him specifically. He was as loyal as everyone else, I had finished his storyline, did Krogan research, talked to him regularly etc.

Grunt dies whenever he is the 2nd second squad leader because he had no shields, that last shot kills him. Garrus and Miranda do have shields so they can survive, among others.

Barring ship-death because you didn't upgrade, the biggest reasons seem to be you picked someone unsuited for the job or they were unloyal. My guess would be that Zaeed is a bad choice for a group leader, unless someone else was successful with that.

The first time I played I lost Jacob, he got shot in the head as he was trying to close the door. The second time I got everyone through.

All survived (including crew) minus Grunt, who was taken by the swarms. Chose Miranda to be the Biotic Protector and sent Samara with the Crew. Miranda just didn't have the juice to make it to the end. Garrus was always my first choice for Secondary Squad Leader on both occasions, Tali was my Tech Expert. Poor Grunt... RIP buddy.

Now for playthrough number 2...

I lost Thane at the security doors (well, he was dying anyway) , but the rest and all of the crew survived.

Everyone, including the crew survived. I had almost every upgrade and everyone was loyal.

I used Tali for the tube and Garrus as the second squad leader and had Miranda and Grunt with me (my normal squad).

Then I used Jack for the barrier, Zaeed for the escort and Garrus again as the second squad leader. Miranda and Grunt were with me again.

For the end I left Grunt so that he could help the others, since he was the best fighter. I took Legion and Miranda and blew the base to pieces.

This mission was so tense, I didn't want anyone to die so I really thought about my choices. Garrus is the best choice for the other leader as he has the most experience with having an elite squad and Jack was just as capable as Samara with the barrier. I think Tali reacts faster than Legion, so I picked her and Zaeed can handle himself in a firefight so it was an obvious escort choice. I freaked out at one point because Garrus got shot and started to fall but he shook it off. It was an amazing mission.

I just finished the game. Everyone survived, crew, squad members, and (more importantly) ME! (sorry, had to say it). Here was my format...

Tech Specialist-Tali
2nd Squad Leader-Miranda
Biotic-Jack a.k.a. Subject Zero
Distraction Team Leader-Miranda(again)
Escort-Mordin

I chose to destroy the Collector base and in a Paragon way, basically said up yours to The Illusive Man. Man that felt good!!! I've been waiting to do that since day 1!

Grunt isn't a leader. It's not because of shields...

I got everyone out. Most of my crew died. Including Gabi and Kelly. Better them than my team though.

I sent Tali through the vents, Jacob to lead the second group, and Samara for the bio-shield. The only person I lost was Jack and she was the only person who wasn't loyal due to the argument between her and Miranda. I did end up losing half of the crew though which was a bummer. Kelly was my favorite of the regular crew and she ended up dying. Jack, I couldn't really care less about. Thane and Mordin were always my partners and we kicked a** B)

It's good to see alot of people survived and better yet there team and crew did too. I hope Bioware takes this into consideration in making ME3.

First time i did the final mission, Tali died because she was pissed at me for siding with Legion. I didn't have enough paragon/renegade points to get her loyalty back. But luckily i reloaded a save, tried to change my specialty and got shock trooper with its +100% renegade/paragon. That got me to 100% Renegade, which helped me get her back on my side.

After that did he final mission and everyone including the crew and all teammates survived.

Mordin didn't survive in the rearguard even though i had tech upgrades (at least i think i had) for him and he was loyal. At least everyone else survived. Except half of the ships crew, is it possible to save all of them too?

First playthrough, took the base out in a fiery explosion of death and I survived, along with all my team mates and crew members. :D

1st part:
Tech Specialist - Legion
Fire Team lead - Garrus

Biotic Specialist - Samara

2nd part:
Escort - Zaeed
Fire Team lead - Jacob

My party - Grunt/Jack

Everyone was loyal, all upgrades were installed in the Normandy.
