Everyone survived except Zaeed, who wasn't loyal yet. I was in orbit around the planet for that mission when the Collector ship attacked and didn't really want to wait to save everyone. :(

I survived but I lost Legion after the Biotic shield part, which made me feel horrible seeing him get dragged away even though I had only had him as a party member for a few hours. I'm guessing it happened because I used Jack as the biotic, and she was the only party member who wasn't loyal to me (I screwed up her mission).

They did a great job with the last few hours though. I really sat back for a few minutes stressing out over who I should pick for what, and was pretty tense the whole time hoping they wouldn't die.

It's alright, she just says that to Shep after all her dialogues have been completed, freaked me out at first too.

I only lost Chambers, Rubert, Gabby, half the crew, & Mordin.

I only lost Chambers, Rubert, Gabby, & half the crew because I didn't go through right away.

I don't know why Mordin died. I left him to defend the door while I took human reaper and the collector threat. What could I have done differently? I didn't do all the ship upgrades or all the weapon or armor upgrades, but if those were the case I think I would have lost more of my squad mates.

Collector ship honestly took me by surprise when if forced me into endgame. Had completed all loyalty quests except Legion and Jack. I decided to help Legion because it seemed like a good idea to possibly remove the Geth threat by reprogramming. Jack could rot, I don't cater to murderous psychos on my ship.

I kept Garrus and Tali on my quad because I figured I could keep them alive that way. Legion took the vents, Zaeed was team leader because he ran a whole damn mercenary group. Legion taken out by a headshot.  Oh well, dead robot. Watched Kelly get liquified, kinda felt bad. Then Garrus was carried away by the Lord of the Flies. Wtf. Mordin and Tali in my squad after that, I was on pins and needles watching her roll down the collapsing platform, but she was saved in the cutscene. Everyone survived including Dr Chakwas and the remainder of the SR-2 crew.

I won't go back to correct my choices for ME3. What happened, happened.

Garrus was my "best buddy" since ME1. Thanks for killing him off, Bioware. Total mindf**k. No seriously, thanks. I actually felt depressed after that, not many games are good enough to do that. Obscuring Tali's face was pretty slick too, lol.

I did the mission with feelings from my gut. I had every team member loyal and went right through. Then I had Mordin do the part of the tech (due to his scientific experience) and let Samara lead the second team, because I thought her nearly 1000 years of experience and her discipline would help. Also, I had a bad feeling that SuZe would freak out if I took Miranda. But I was wrong. Mordin got shot. Then I had Jacob escorting the crew back to the Normandy, while Zaeed was leading the distracting team. SuZe was my biotic, because I figured that she was abnormally powerful.

(Do the bubbles of the biotics vary in size?)

While we were walking the path, I had a bad feeling that it would not end well for SuZe, because she was exhausted (and I expected that she would start some nose-bleeding). Luckily I was wrong and she blasted the whole room away at the end of the road.

Jacob came through with no casualties, but Zaeed got killed. Well, he was a mercenary, I expected distractions would be his specialty.

After that, no one died. For the first two rooms, I had Garrus and Legion in my squad. For the last fight I left Legion to defend the door and took Tali with me, because I was worried that she could get killed in an actual big battle.

It's sad, but I'm fine with it. It gives the story more spice for ME3. Even though I play a paragon, the "Everyone survived"-ending would be a bit too cheesy. Mass Effect has a presentation like a movie, and a little bit drama at the right places makes it very interesting.

Zaleed was the butthead and cold-blooded killer all along, but he died for a greater good. Mordin was a good guy, but he made mistakes and had a chance to redeem himself with enough time to say goodbye to his family. He definitely died a good death, helping the squad, while those two deaths make it a more personal experience for Mass Effect 3.

Hm. After another play-through, I'm going to have to go through this and figure out who gets who killed and who can be disloyal and still live. It seems like a fun little game. /g

First thoughts are that you need your ship upgraded- the upgrades given to you by Tali, Garrus, and Jacob (...at least, I think the one is given to you by Jacob?... shoot, I mean the shield/beams/hull stuff, or maybe it was by Miranda... or maybe there were four...). Med bay, probes, fuel don't matter (although they don't hurt :)). Some squad-mates have special upgrades just for them: upgrading Jack's implants and Mordin's omnitool seem necessary to make sure they won't randomly drop seems good. I'm not sure where, say, Grunt and Legion's Weapons fit in to this- are they required, or not? Anyone check?

(If anyone reading this has more information or can correct me, let me know!.)

Vents can be done by a loyal Tali or loyal Legion. Anyone attempt a non-loyal Tali? All others reported so far (Thane, Jacob) appear to get a head-shot, including a non-loyal Legion... and someone reported losing a loyal Legion without his weapon, but wasn't sure if it was due to lack of weapon or a bad choice in Strike Team A.

Strike Team Leader can be a loyal Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob. Jack apparently gets a headshot, and it seems is Samara is chosen you may lose Legion (Tali as well?- not certain) if he's in the vents (or maybe if he's in the party?), and you may lose her. Tali does not lead well, but I'm not sure if it's her who dies, the one in the tunnels, or someone in the team. Reports of Zaeed getting Legion killed, but not sure if it's Legion in the tunnels or Legion in the team.

Biotic Protector seems like they must not only be loyal, but also be powerful, or you'll end up with a member dragged off. Jacob doesn't have the juice, and apparently Jack without implants can fail as does a non-loyal Samara. Samara who is loyal will succeed. Jack who is loyal with implants is probably a 'will' as well, but I'm not 100% positive (it seems like she would have to be, though). Also, wonder about That Secret Squad Member.

Crew Member Guard can apparently be a lot of people, as long as they're loyal. Thread reports it's been done by a loyal Thane, loyal Grunt, loyal Moridan with omnitool (lost by someone without it), loyal Jack, loyal Jacob, loyal Zaeed, loyal Tali, loyal Samara (I think we're like, only missing someone reporting on Miranda at this point XD)... has anyone sent a non-loyal member and had them fail, and if so, was that member missing an upgrade?

Division Team Leader seems similar to Strike Team Leader. I wonder if choosing the same person twice might put a bit too much pressure on them, although it seems you can choose Garrus for both fine. Miranda, Jacob, and Garrus all seem to succeed. This seems to be a place where you can lose someone whether they are loyal or not if you don't have a good team-leader, as well as losing the team-leader if they're just not good. All sorts of reports of people dying here- dead team-leader Grunt, dead team-member Jack, dead-team member Mordin (apparently, Samara is *really* not a good team leader)... yadda ye.

Put in an easier format, this assumes that the member is loyal and has any upgrades specific to them (paticularly the Legion rifle for Vents and the Jack implants for Biotic):

Vent Crawler: YAY- Legion, Tali; NAY- Jacob, Thane, Grunt, Garrus (...probably all others (check Moridin, but probably not))

Strike Team Leader: YAY: Garrus, Jacob, Miranda; NAY- Tali, Jack, Samara, Zaeed (probably most others (?): this team leader may also have some influence on whether the vent cat survives)

Biotic Bioticer (..): YAY- Samara, Jack; NAY- Jacob (probably all others save maybe M*)

Crew Escorter: YAY- Anyone loyal, apparently (Tali, Jacob, Thane, Moridan, Grunt, Zaeed, Jack all confirmed); NAY- Someone not loyal? (M*? Maybe Legion?)

Diversion Team Leader: YAY- Jacob, Miranda, Garrus; NAY- Grunt, Jack, Tali, Thane; Mixed Reports on Zaeed, but probably a NAY

If you don't have your ship upgraded fully, you can lose someone at basically random when the ship is hit. If you take too long on the last boss, you can end up losing any squadmate (including Commander). Another site stated you could lose a non-loyal squad-mate in your final team, as well (and someone here reported losing a non-loyal Miranda in the final battle). I wonder if you could also lose a squad-mate if you brought two that don't get along: I made Jacob and Miranda my team twice, for instance, and they were running after each other like one might expect. But what if you brought Legion and Tali and hadn't convinced them to get along? That's speculation, though. Another thought is the shot in the stomach that one of the team leaders gets: I wonder if that might lead to complications if you don't have Moridon around.

The top dead squad-members (besides 'bad choices ala GRUNT IS TEH BEST HACKER!!!' (actually, I don't think anyone did that, so, um, hm) seem to be Legion and Mordan (...I cannot spell his name consistently, not even consistently wrong) if they lack upgrades, and Miranda if you lack her loyalty.

Who you need the loyalty of seems pretty simple: either Legion or Tali, one of Garrus/Miranda/Jacob, and either Jack or Samara. If you want to rescue the Crew, you need any other person- for safety measures, you might as well make it another of the Garrus/Miranda/Jacob crew. You could, of course, have Tali/Legion escort the crew back (assuming that Legion can do that successfully- no reports one way or the other), but that means that as you'll have that G/M/J doing the Distraction deal and a member off escorting, you'll go in to the final battle with only S/J loyal, and you'll lose the other squad member. Probably.

...Again, this is just assumptions and me trying to put information together that people have stated so far in the thread. If I got it wrong/you have more information, let me know! :)

Unfortunately through my experiences, it is impossible to get an unloyal Miranda to survive. I can do everything right (garrus leads division teams, legion opens doors) and even take her on the final part with me and she still dies when you pry the metal beam off her (nobody else does though). I thought I could get around it by sending Miranda to take the crew back but that's impossible for whatever reason. I've tried talking with all the crewmates and have done all the sidequests, and am at 80% loyalty, yet I cannot convince Miranda to stop being so butthurt over Jack.

Is this an error in the game? I wonder if I had let Jack get yelled at if she could've lead the crew back and survived. That way nobody would die.

Also, all of my crew except Chawkas died. I had a feeling when I was about to install the IFF that something bad would happen but I figured it wouldn't matter if I just went ahead and installed it. Next time, I'll know better.

EDIT: I also left Miranda to help keep the enemy at bay for the final part, and she still mysteriously died. They made no mention of it at all until I checked my crew roster (I call conspiracy!).

All Survived, Full Crew Survival

Vents: Tali

Squad Leader: Garrus

Biotic Battery: Jack

Crew Escort: Grunt

Second Squad Leader: Miranda

Squad with Me: Thane and Samara as they combined with my Adept were the best at dealing with the Collector's Barriers and such. I killed stuff stupidly fast.

Took me 35 hours but I did everything except the Forged ID mission. No idea on that one. Full Paragon Ending and play through.

I know, man, I was at the edge of my seat when Tali was sliding down the platform, even more so when catching her the first time didn't work, and Shepard caught her a second time.  I did the same thing to keep her and Garrus alive, but I put Tali in the vents first.
I agree about not correcting my choices, even though I made savings to do it.  Theres' not much reason for me to, everyone in my team lived, including the Normandy crew.  The only choice I can see myself going back to change is destroying the collector base, but meh.

I knew you could die, but I didn't know how it happened.  I don't know if Joker took a hit or not, I got pulled up by Tali.

Tech-spert - Legion

Strike Team Leader - Garrus

Biotic Barrier - Jack

2nd Team Leader - Garrus again

Crew Member Escort - Jacob

Final Boss Crew - Tali and Garrus, kicking it old school.

Yeah, there are 2 ideal people for each job, I believe.

My experience was:

Legion - Ducts
Garrus - Fire Team Lead

Samara - Bioshield
Garrus - Fire Team Lead
Grunt - Escort

All survived.

p.s. Having Tali/Legion as your squadmates is great.  As is Mordin/Grunt.  I was surprised there was little to no banter between Miranda/Jack during missions.  I always like the more entertaining rather effective squads.

This helped a LOT!  Good thing I went to the forums and to this thread before doing the mission.. 7hanks a lot! B)
