Mass Effect 2 Installation problem

So ive just received ME2 in the post. in a huge joy i ran to install it. slid DvD1 in ran smoothly. when the installation comes to ask for disc 2 at 89.5% for installing movies\\visionavi.bik it spits out disc one and asks for the second one. So I put it in and click retry, takes the disc into the bay, then few seconds later spits it out saying please insert disc 2.
What the hell is going on?? I have no other discs inserted, and no background programs running which require the DvD drives.
Specs are easily above what is needed, and running Windows 7
Thanks in advance

It's becoming fairly common, being caused by a conflict between some anti-copying something on the disk, and some DVD drives, including my own, which aborted from disk two when practically all finished. You have to use another source drive for disk two, such as an ISO image, or borrow someone else's external DVD drive, whatever. Other than that, you can try copying each disk to its own separate folder on the Hdd, and installing from there, or do what I did, install across my LAN from one room (and a PC with a DVD drive that will work) into another room.RazorStar wrote...
Same problem here.

Last, if none of that works, you use the registration number at the EA Store to get a digital copy of the game.

Any suggestion other than digital copy because I don't have a great internet bandwidth to download 11 GB game (it may take well over 15 days)

Now that the forum's search function has been unhidden, you will find numerous similar threads. It seems to be some sort of anti-copying tracks on the disks that flummoxes some drives. In my case, I kept reaching the 90% mark, on disk 2, and getting data errors, until I installed from another PC's DVD drive, across my LAN. A few people have been able to install from a folder on their hard drive, but most are having to borrow a different DVD drive (an external one is easiest to deal with, of course).SlickKO wrote...
I am having a similar problem. I have vista and after nearly completing installation from Disk 1, it asks for insertion of disk 2. On inserting the disk the popup never really goes off. It keeps on saying "Please insert next disc (Disc 2).

1. Burn ME2 disc 1 using Daemon Tools. To do this:
Download Daemon Tools
Right-Click on the thunderbolt icon in your taskbar
Select disc imaging, then select the drive in wich your ME2 disc 1 is located
Create an ISO. not an mds!
Let it burn the disc
When it's done, take disc 1 out of the drive and insert disc 2
2. Right-click on Deamon icon in taskbar, select Mount'n Drive manager
Select the ISO. file of Disc 1, then click mount.
As the ME2 menu pops up click install.
It should install perfectly, with no disc swamps!

"I had this EXACT same problem! However I may have found a solution for you. It worked for me anyway. Try installing the game and when it asks for disc 2, put the disc in the tray, but click the retry button with the tray open, it will automatically close the tray and start reading the disc resuming the installation."

Edit: It worked! Just reinsert Disc 1 when you try to run the game, it gave me an authentication error when I only had Disc 2 and the ISO in there.

It shouldn't be this hard or anywhere near this stupid to make a game work but thanks for the game saving advice.
