Hey guys still waiting on my game to arrive over here in the giant
sandbox. I downloaded the character creator so i can make one and
upload a guy for the lucky stone. Couple questions you might be able to
answer for me.
1 After you click the button to create a new
character there is a load screen. But it is only up for a split second
and i cant read what it says at the top. Something about background
determins something. Can someone fill in the blanks for me?
2
and I have also read (before the game was released) people saying they
have made multiple characters and what not. I dont see the point in
that as you can read the "Bio" of each type of character. Or what im
thinking is i got a bad version of CC because there are some things i
can change. Like i cant change any of the mouth features when
customizing the face. And after i spend all of my attribute points and
go to the skills screen all i can do is look at the few skills i have.
But they dont seem to change, If you click the back button and
redistribute the points. Anyone else having problems like that? I am
really not looking forward to downloading the CC again LOL. i only have
15kps here ../../../../images/forum/emoticons/crying.png
what does the Back Ground do?

It basically says that background determines your characters Origin, and Origin Story, and it influences how people will treat you throughout the game. Well, people made characters ahead of time, because you can import them into the game once you have it, so it saves time. However, they don't convert over all that cleanly, and in my case, you end up needing to re-create anyway. But, uploading a character from the CC does give you access to a "Lucky Stone" DLC ring that's +1 to all stats, so it's worth doing it just for that, but I wouldn't use that character as my "real" one. The only time I couldn't change mouth features was when I had a dwarf with a beard (and possibly a human with one, though I've not tested it) because those aren't visible with the beard there. Also, once your spend your points, the CC is only telling you the skills you'll start with (based on your race, background, and class), you can look over the others, but can't choose any. When you go to the "real" game, you'll get to make 2-3 choices of your own to add to those. For example, my female human rogue came with poision-making and dirty fighting, and Combat Training (the last being a human noble bonus). When I got into the "real" game I chose Dual weapon proficiency, and Dual Weapon Sweep for her, as well as the Coercion skill.
Hopefully that helps explain some things. The short answer though is, while the CC is fun to play with...if you DO create a meaningful character with it, write down or screenshot all your sliders, and just re-build when you get the game, as the import process is fairly well borked.

Awesome that cleared everything up for me thank you. I was some how thinking the background color you picked had some sort of influence...

nah, it's just the background for your portrait. What they meant was the background for your character. Just to clarify Humans always get "Noble" (I wish they had a commoner but..go figure). Dwarves can be "Commoner" or "Noble" and Elves can be "Dalish Elves" (Wood Elves, basically) and "City Elves" (the Elves that've lived in the city, and been slaves to humans for a long time, they're like Drow, they just look the same as the Dalish Elves). Then there's "Magi" which anyone who is a mage of any race gets. Those are the 6 background/origin stories BW included in DAO.
