Ok, my primary instinct is not to cheat on Ashley but I won't get the achivement so does having a romance with another crew member mess up anything with my little pin up gal?

Second, do achivements even matter in MA2?  I haven't noticed anything on them that says you get +health, sheilds, etc.. for completing any of them.

Do what I'm doing. Main playthrough I'm staying faithful to Ash. Then make a single non-import for everyone in ME2. All I know is that the devs said there would be consequences in some way for not remaining faithful. No idea what those will be or how dire they'll be.

The loyalty achievements do matter, as you'll be able to add bonus talents with them for a new character.

Don't sweat it, remember that New Game+ is still an option. That's what I'm going to have to do to stay faithful, but it wasn't my fault. I was just trying to be nice and now I'm just a few convos away from Shep and Jack having a little "quality time".

Okay, I wanna make sure on my first playthrough I stayed loyal to Ashley because I really liked her character and wanna see how everything turns out if you stay faithful. If Shepard is in his room right before teh final mission and he walks over to her picture and stares at it for a while, does that mean I officially stayed faithful?

The only achievements that I know matter are the loyalty ones for unlocking bonus talents in the beginning and the one for beating the game as that gives you +25% exp gain and more starting credits/resources.
