*Some ME1 spoilers Alert!*

I completed ME1 a few times already so I know most decision you could make in ME1. And ME2 reflect many of them (I am still pretty early in-game wise but see a few reflects already). The problem is my ME1 saves are long gone, no way for me to recover it & I tried to play ME1 again a month back to create a save, but even such a great game ME1 is, playing it for the 4th or 5th was too much for me, so I started ME2 as 'NEW'.

I picked Earthborn Reckless. First thing I know Ash is alive...OK I guess she is tough enough to escape a nuke...After awhile Miranda told me I didn't save the Council (GOOD!) but Udina became the head of council or something? W/E I guess I have to live with it. Then I was told I killed Wrex...I was like where is the time machine... this is a little bit too much.

I thought you kind of get to set your histroy for ME1 even you don't have a save imported, I guess that idea was scraped?

Anyways does these changes if you pick War hero or other background? Like, will the Council live if I pick Warhero? Or no matter what, as long as you play without a ME1 you are stuck with the BW canon history?

I might use someone else's save, but only as a last resort.

Ashley didn't survive the nuke. It defaults with the scenario that you rescued Ash on Vermire and Kaidan died. And I think what you got is the only default story because when I did mine without importing ME 1 I got the same results as you and I was a Colonist/Sole Survivor.

The Ash/Kaiden question was asked of you on the shuttle ride escaping the Cerberus base at the beginning. I said Ash was killed on Virmire.

It was a lame joke lol, it means that 'Damn I can't even get rid of her with a nuke!'

Thanks for the info. Ah damn...

? Ash/Kaiden fate was told before you meet the Cerberus though right? When SR-1 got shot down Ash is there that means Kaiden is dead.

I suspect, but have not tested, that this is based on the gender of your Shepherd.

It's based on gender, I have the Prima guide and they confirmed it in the section about Horizon.

Wait. Even if I start with my ME1 save it will still stay with the default. "Killed council and saved ashley" scenario?
I am replaying ME1 for the reason I didn't want that.

What do you mean?

If you import an ME save, council and Ashley et al are impacted by whatever you did.

Why would it do that? Unless that's what you did in your ME1 playthrough. If your import your save file and it has different choices made it will use those different choices not the default.
