Bigeyez,

I have reached level 57 in one playthrough and another one level 54. Both gave me level 1 in ME2. Haha! Level 1. Come on.

Sorry but that is a load of bs right there. I imported a level 50 character and started at level 3 with 100000 credits and 10k of each resource.

Saw your post. I am indeed wrong. I had heard/read 58 was the lowest you could go to get bonuses. Nice to know you get them as low as 50. Cool beans.

I agree with most the Op said and will add, if ME2 was as great and compelling as the shooter kiddies say, they would be playing the game and not posting here over and over!

Maybe they have different idea of playable then me though

Ok RPG elitist dude, that's fine insult me... I'm not the one with the Loghain pic, feel like betraying a close friend do you? Stealing a man's entitlement?

yup, would have liked to get that bigger bonus those :P but i quickly found out that that small bonus is nothing. a lot of the upgrades/purchases are very expansive. which i would get of work so i can go back to playing.

Yeah I've been playing on Insane for my first playthrough and its tough as hell (Not a bad thing) so you saying its a breeze walk is just BS. You HAVE to use your powers to stay alive I'm a Soldier and I still have to switch to almost all of my guns and using my slow time perk because I constantly being hit by bullets and running out of ammo and If you just run out to get some you'll be dead in 10 seconds even less if its the big mechs.

You can't play a game 24/7 dude. I've put 17 hours into it since noon Tuesday. I haven't done that to a game since I was 15 (which was a decade ago). You can't instantly discount people who disagree with you as "shooter kiddies" (mind you, I've been playing FPS games for most of my life, starting with Wolfenstein 3D).

Maybe all the "shooter kiddies" have them new-fangled internets fonez, that gets all them crazy web stuff anywhere they at? lol

Child please, I feel like I'm far from a "shooter kid". 25+ years of gaming (got my 1st commadore 64 when I was 2) and I grew up playing JRPG's from the original FF on nes to Dragon Age and everything in between. Do I enjoy shooters? Yea. Do I enjoy any qualty game? U bet.

I think this stereotyping is just ignorance and a placeholder for a lack of a good argument.

Sure a developer os going to improve combat to their money making series....I'm glad that they made it more about actually hitting ur target and not just an "accuracy" die roll...if I wanted the die roll, I'd go back to DA:O lol.

Stop the hate child.

First I want to say that I hate third person shooters (just ask my friends who I have ranted at regarding games such as Dead Space and Gears of War)...

Now we come to ME2... Third person shooter...hmmmm yeah... but the main thing is the story. The thermal clips come about due to reverse engineering the geth weaponry. Anyone remember Nirali Bhatia's (spelling probably wrong) wounds? The alliance engineers were trying to find a way of improving the Alliance weaponry and they upped the power of the weapons which caused more heat to be generated. Bit like how early PC's didn't need a fan and when they got faster it ended up that we needed a huge copper heat sink and fan on multi-GHz cpu's.

It hints of this in the Codex... but I guess the people who play the game as an RPG neglected to read it.

The combat is WAY more fun than the original... and this is Mr Neo "I hate third person shooters" Morph talking here. It just seems to gel more.

I do mourn the loot harvesting though... one of the things making you come back for more is wanting to see if you can get the Rage armour for Wrex or the Collossus X armour for everyone. Removing the fact that you can't find a new armour suit out in the field and immediatly put it on is VERY RPGish though... Can you imagine going into a firefight and then shouting to the enemy "TIME OUT... I WANT TO TRY THIS OTHER ARMOUR ON, OK?".

IS everyone here blind besides me and frozen water? If you loved the first mass effect (like i) and love rpgs (like i) you should be nothing but disappointed. AH mass effect i can customize everything, ah mass effect 2 i can customize the tint of my armor. Gah i am just amazed that people are defending a simplified and dumbed down game. The story is there and i love it. EA has ruined a possibly great franchise with a boat load of easy. Mass effect 2 is a interactive movie, no more no less. Mass effect 3 is going to be the same way. Its just amazing how easy people can take an amazing game like mass effect 1 and not be angry at the fact that they took so much away from it.

I cant wait for mass effect 3 when there is only auto leveling and the only thing you can customize is your face.

The armor and weapon customization in the first game was simplistic not to mention it was the "reason" behind the constant flood of repetative, useless loot that constantly filled the horribly unmanageable inventory system. Sure, every 5 to 10 levels you were rewarded with some significant upgrade (that you quickly got far too many of and loaded up all your squad with), but beyond that it was a time sink to keep you Inventory from filling up.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the game, but don't tout parts of the game that were mediocre at best as the holy grail of game design.

People have different opinions. Just because YOU don't like the game doesn't mean everyone else will agree. Many of the things I can say are great about the game you might find horrible. Thats how the world works.

I had a lvl 50 in ME1 and I started with a lvl 3 character and bonus creds and resources. Maybe you didn't import your character?

Thanks for the reply. ;)

Nah... I did import a level 54 and a level 57 one. Both ended up as level 1 in ME2. Maybe it is bugged. I don't know. I just tried a level 60 save and that gave me level 5 in ME2 (like an earlier poster suggested). I have 13 ME2 playthroughs, so that's enough to experiment with. ;)

Have fun. ;)

The thing I miss most is the planetary exploration. I hope the hammerhead DLC can bring that aspect back into the game. I would much rather drive around on a planet and admire the view than scan.

There is a lot of customization between the 6 actually unique classes, weapon research, armor sets, and squadmate upgrades. The difference here is that you make tradeoffs to make your character unique instead of just equiping new best gear when you get it. I am dissapointed that there is no on the fly weapon mods and any inventory. What a terrible idea to remove that entirely.

Nope... I loved ME1 and feel it's a shame that you can't configure your squad but dissapointed in ME2 as a whole? NOT HARDLY.

Perhaps you are just rushing though the main story and not getting the whole ROLE PLAYING GAME idea. RPG doesn't mean you configure everyone else... it means YOU play a role in a game. Your Squad members still get loaded out with whatever weapons you have available... your squadmates still do what you tell them to do. You can decide what armour to wear... You can still decide which squadmate to go after. How is this "Linear" and "Dumbed down"?

It's different... it's two years on... if there is one thing I would have changed it would be Shepard's attitude to finding out that he was dead... I would have been happier to have him freak out for a bit...

Shepard: "Hold on! Back up... I was DEAD for two years... and I got better?" Image IPB
