Bioware is much more clever than you think regarding LI's

You're mad at you're ex, and there's a pile of opporunities sitting around you. I thought this was one of the most clever things they've ever done.

Liara's case is just sad. She's changed so much she's not the same woman my Shep fell in love with anymore.
Consumed by anger, driven by hate. I walked away from her office truly stunned at what she's become. She said she wouldn't become her mother but she's so close it's not even funny.

I never romanced any of the ME1 LI's, but I can definitely understand the disappointment. Heck, I was disappointed with how it was handled.

Backstory for me3 if i ever heard one.
"I'm going to fix you by killing the person who upsets you." says paragon shep. (seems to be a trend of gaining loyalty)
"Lets go raid orphanages together with your new personality" says renegade shep.

So much for Liara's mind melding supposedly meaning something. I can get Ashley moving on, she's human and pragmatic, but Liara? You ain't gonna tie me down, as the New Boyz song says.

....all my respect for Bioware in this area will fly out the window though if ME3 comes around and the conclusion to this love story isnt' epic.

This. Mcuh of what drew me to Liara in the first game was how innocent she was. Now that that's gone, she's not nearly as appealing. And Femsheps not being able to romance Tali just makes the situation even worse:crying:

It's interesting people say this, because it contrasts with other LI--when Ashley finds out you're working with the big C, it's clear she's not sure if you're the man she fell in love with.

Agreed. I don't understand why people even thought our ME 1 LI's were going to go all googoogaagaa over Shepard and everything would be rainbows and sunshine. It's been two years, they thought you were dead, grieved you, and moved on. Not to mention you are now working for an organization that they know tortured and killed people in ME 1.
Makes it that much sweeter when you can stick it to Cerberus. XD

Exactly. I was chilled, not amused, to hear her ask an extortion victim if he'd ever faced Asari commandos before.
Her mom, word per word: it was cold.

Yeah I loved that reference (not at the time though). Clearly it's a story for ME3 since video games are all about the chase. You don't go back to the Normandy in ME3 and just sit there watching the 6 o clock news together, there has to be a conflict or an exploration.

And her mom was indoctrinated. Liari's doing this on her own.

It doesn't even extend to the LIs exlusively. My DudeShep killed off Ashely in ME1, so I had Kaiden. When I ran into Kaiden he's all pissed off at me. I was like, "Dude I've only been awake for like a week!"
Yeah I was hoping that there was going to be an option to tell ashley that the afterlife has poor reception.

Yeah. I saved him and he lectured me. I didn't blame him much, though. I don't like working with Cerebus. I remember Acuze, and Toombs.

Keep in mind that Liari tells Shepard up front that Asari are "philosophical" about relationships, though, in ME1.
I will be philosophical when I biotic slam her in ME 3 then.

Yeah. My femShep had saved Ashley and when she went off I was thinking, "back off woman. I was dead for two years. Think 'big picture.'" Seemed a bit...OOC or just poorly handled. I mean, I get it...BW wants us to move on...but at least have it make some semblance of sense and logic. *shrug* Ah, well. Guess there's still ME3...
