this is worse that the orginal system, i think if u upgrade the scanners then it should give u the amount of probes and how much u will recieve from each planet, this is the most broing deal in the game, love everything else in it
mining system sucks big time

I loved the game, but the mining bored me to death. I almost didn´t finish the game because of it, but I figured I had to pull through to play ME 3, BUT don´t get me wrong I loved everything else. So Bioware please throw this whole mining system out the window and start it all over again in the next game. Don´t create a system that is time-consuming and monotonous

Get Gibbed's Mass Effect 2 Save Editor and give yourself all the minerals you need.
Alternately: buy 30 probes, mine out a few rich planets, buy 30 more probes, repeat. Do this for an hour and you'll never have to mine again.

I think the complaint is over exaggerated. Its not THAT BAD ladies and gentleman, I've seen people spend more time leveling up on the most boring levels known to man in RPG history for days and not complain --- a little mining isn't going to kill you.
In fact --- if you mine about 4 systems or so you'll get about half of what you need. This is like making an editor in order to skip that lame " leveling up" thing because it just may be also boring.
Wow. I'm not trying to be rude but the patience in some gamers is just dimmed into the sun set.

No, it really is lame. Lamer still is that when I start the game over with one of my completed ME2 saves, the thing says I have a 60 probe capacity but when I eventually use them and refill I only get 30 probes back. DURD! FILTH FLARN...FILTH!

Yeah, mining could probably use a redesign. That said, you're insane if you mined out the whole galaxy. That's behavior Bioware never intended nor anticipated.

I wouldn't miss it if it was removed. I want action, not mining!

I'll go with empty planets & mountain climbing. Besides, the Mako really isn't that bad (I still play ME1)

Well you have two options: Mine all of the resources you need at the beginning of the game, thus getting it all over at once, or you can mine a little bit at a time after every couple of missions, to keep consecutive time mining to a minimum. You only have to mine the Rich planets anyway.
Or you could come and complain on forums.

Meh, I didn't mind it.
Big time mining systems suck, however. Destroying our natural environment and all that.

Meh. It sucks on your first play-through, but it isn't so bad on successive play-throughs because of the bonus minerals you start with. Also, the patch made it quite a bit less tedious.

Yeah I found the patch did wonders to the mining portion --- made it 10x less tedious.
In all honesty, if you just go ahead and mine the distant systems around omega, most of those planets have a pretty good ammount to start your upgrades off --- its not something game breaking. Some people are trying to make it look like a long division math test.

I mined the entire galaxy. Sucks I ran out of upgrades to spend the resources on. Gimme more BioWare!

I'd rather scan a planet than go up 90 degrees hills just to get to an even more annoying minigame

Its true, you can leave every planet in the galaxy a hollowed out husk. But its cool, now you afford for your sub machine gun to have a few extra shots in it. Seems kinda wasteful in hindsight...
I liked being able to drive the Mako around in ME1, the Hammerhead seems kinda dull in comparison.

Maybe there should be a new option that doesn't involve planet roaming or scanning mass planets for resources...
Assassian's Creed 2 Brotherhood will have the ability to send others to go on quests for you and gather tedious stuff while you're doing all the killing. I don't see why Mass Effect 3 can't have something similiar? After all, it's the last part of the trilogy and the least TIM or the Council can do is let you use nobodies to gather resources for you.
Because right now mining planets is tedious, bad design, and a boring time sink that should go away.

You pay for a mech mining base that feeds you small amounts of minerals continuously, with rare (very rare) missions involving having to duck back and defend them from pirates.
Ok, maybe not the later part, but a better way to earn credits so you can buy the mines to earn the minerals that makes thecordial upgrades that I like best.

I spent countless hours on those stupid plants before I went for the IFF. Id rather just buy the upgrades.
