My stupid question thread.
Just wondering more about the fuel system, just started and its one of the things I wanted explained better but never really found the answers I was looking for? It's one of things I would rather understand before I start a trial and error process.
Do you use fuel just when you enter a system or when you travel across the map in the ship?
How easy is it to drain your fuel and what happens if you do?
And the stupidest question: where is the fuel indincator on the screen?

You only use fuel to travel between systems in a nebula. Flying around a system, or flying around the main galaxy map doesn't expend fuel. On the 360 version at least the indicator is in the top left corner and will give you a percentage that slowly drains down as you fly about.
If you run out of fuel, you're automatically taken to the nearest Mass Relay. No penalty whatsoever. In each system with a Mass Relay there is also a Fuel Depot where you can top up your fuel and probes.

EDI will also call out when your fuel is running low, so you'll know.

It hasn't happened to me yet, but doesn't the manual say if you run out, you deplete resources? Is this not true?

Well you'll have to spend money to buy more fuel, but I hadn't noticed any other effects, no. It's farily harmless, and it's actually pretty difficult to run out of fuel, unless you're just travelling from system with no realy to another, to another. But you could always just stop in and refuel on the way.

This is true. It takes away randomly from one of your resources.crapmonster13 wrote...

If you run out of fuel when running between systems, you get teleported back to the nearest fuel station and pay a small fee.

so can someone confirm there is a fee for running out? I would like a small "tow" fee for running dry.

It's usually palladium.
When you run out, you switch to just the FTL mass effect based drive instead of conventional thrusters + mass effect.
