The one thing I thought about throughout the whole game

But...
While playing through ME2, the game felt much more claustrophobic than the original. Planets were little set pieces, "hub" cities felt narrow and restricted, and it just lacked the freedom from the first game.
And it got me thinking...
This game NEEDS to be an MMO.
The universe is so deep and expansive, they've already gone some ways to establishing "classes," everything needed in a great MMO is there. And while the single player is amazing, the series would benefit from expansion and more depth. I love building my characters in the Mass Effect universe but I'm never done when they story is and would love to have a persistent universe to continue in.
Thoughts?

I think the "claustrophobic" feeling is because all of the explorable planets in ME1 were big expanses of nothingness, a Mako playground. So they axed those, and made each explorable place interesting and unique this time around.

Second one is kinda... we're stuck in a small place all about to die. But we're loyal.

If ToR does well we should expect to see an ME MMO in six to eight years imo
This. If Bioware does a good job with ToR I fully expect a Mass Effect MMO in the works after Mass Effect 3 comes out.

There were more indoor missions in this game as well, at least it felt like.

On the MMO issue: I agree the IP was made for an eventual MMO spin off, but I'm not sure the current world economy AND gamer attitude toward subscription MMOs can support even The Old Republic, much less an ME MMO (considering WoW dominates the existing market like it does). I'll never pay a monthly subscription to play an online game (or any other game). If they can come up wtih a reasonable free to play model, I'd be willing to consider it, however.

That's what I assume as well... I'm just hoping to encourage them to work faster on it cuz I'm not that interested in the ToR mmo
The good thing about a potential ME MMO 5+ years out is that the graphics will be greatly enhanced by then so it would play much cleaner than the cartooney look that ToR has.
And a quality free-to-play MMO doesn't (and won't ever) exist, get over it. I'd gladly pay the $15/month for my own persistent character in the ME universe. That's 4 months of play for the price of one game; compared to the 2 days I got out of ME2. Now you tell me what's better?
P.S. I didn't exactly have a problem with the claustrophobic feeling, I appreciated the vibrancy and life in all the locations. I would just like a happy medium; expansive wilderness and small set pieces. Maybe when they add the hammerhead DLC it will come with some planets to explore (assuming that hasn't been scrapped)

A lot of the planet of ME2 feel like the planet where you found Liara, ME1 one planet were better intergrate to the overall narative )May stem form the fact the reaper are essentially more single minded in their approach than the Geth)

Finished yesterday. It was great, immersive, fascinating, thrilling and a host of other emotions.

ME hasa great universe and backstory for a MMORPG but now (based on ME2) making it a MMORPG would be senceless as it would just be a basic shooter and nothing else!
For a real successful MMO you need far more character developement then ME2 offers.

This. I'm all for an expansive, growing environment, but if I have to put up with other people, and group up with them, I will renegade interrupt them sooo hard.

If the game is successful and STAYS successful (not unlike WAR having like a hundred servers at launch, selling 1 million retail copies.. ect).

So, did you actually play the two games? Because if you did, you shall already know that it's strenght and by the way, the whole point is to create a personalized story. That feels your own. That's the reason behind imports, the countless references ,the returning faces.
Mass Effect -as the trilogy- would be a terrible, awful, unworthy MMO.
On the other hand, A Mass Effect MMO could be interesting. But not the game. Not this game at least

Agreed. I certainly felt a little restricted, and certainly guided through levels. They were pretty linear. It was also painfully obvious where a firefight would take place, as there would be crates and barricades stewn about the field.Xtempore wrote...

So many planets, so few N7 missions. The ones that were there were alright, but frustratingly short. I also wasn't too pleased about the mission ending abruptly before I'm able to explore and look around for loot. Objective complete, off to the Mission Complete screen you go.
Disagreed. I hate playing with people online, they ruin the experience for me. Any sort of story immersion is lost if I have to deal with n00bs and r-tards.Xtempore wrote...
