Okay, very unhappy for probably the first time ever with Bioware. Why?
Because in order to play the game (or at least, to play using ME1 save
games) it seems that you have to have an Xbox Live enabled account
(which is fine)...but it has to be logged in at all times or the game
forces you to restart! Now, I don't know if this is an issue for other
people, but for some reason, my account is always logging out of Xbox
Live - generally it rarely stays logged in for more than ten or fifteen
minutes at a time. As a result, I've only gotten past the introduction
once, and only just. Every other time I get logged out in the middle of
the introduction and it forces a restart of the game! Why the hell is
it like this? Shouldn't an initial check of the account on loading of a
new/save game be enough to confirm that I'm allowed to use the game,
rather than insisting on constant Xbox Live connection? If I'm not the
only person having this problem, this should really be high up on the
list of issues to address, because it makes the game experience
seriously unpleasant - and it also means that if you don't have an
internet connection, or you're somewhere with spotty coverage, you
can't play the game!
(Before anyone asks, my 360 is
connected to the internet by wireless, but that shouldn't be an issue -
I have a PC, two laptops and an iPhone that run off the wireless as
well, and my wife's PA uses her laptop here wirelessly, too, and none
of those seem to lose connection all the time. On the other hand, if
anyone knows if there are Xbox Live connection issues with original
release 360s or original release wireless adaptors, that may help me
with my problem. Though that still doesn't help anyone who doesn't have
an internet connection.)
What do you do if your Xbox Live connection keeps dropping out?

Your wireless adapter may be getting ready to fail. If all your other wireless stuff works that would be my guess. I have an original release 360 but I use a wired connection to the internet.

I'd agree with that diagnosis, except it's done the same thing since the day I bought it. So if it's been dying for what, three or four years, now, then I'd be very surprised.
Ah well - a replacement may be what I have to do in the end, but let's see if anyone else chimes in.

I'm having this issue with my DLC. I downloaded a DLC mission, but it says that the DLC is corrupted unless I'm connected to Xbox Live at all times. I DOWNLOADED this thing already. Why do I need to be connected to the internet in order to use it? I have two gamer tags playing ME2, one has the Cerberus Network and the other doesn't. When we're connected to the internet, I don't get an error message about the content, but he does. Shouldn't we be sharing?
Why on earth do I have to be online to access content I already downloaded completely? This was never an issue with the first Mass Effect.

DocWagon, this may seem like an odd question. But when it cuts out do you happen to get a phone call? I used to have a phone that was 2.5 GHZ or something that was of lesser value. This happened to be the same frequency the router was running on which would completely cut off the internet everytime we got a phone call. So if your phone is on the same frequency as the router, that could be why it cuts off all the time.

I'd maybe try the adapter in one of the other usb ports, it worked for me and saved me having to buy a new one. Good luck

Xbox live is super sensitive to internet connection, any minor glitch can cause a disconnection. Before you blame the xbox, router, or the wireless adapter; you may want to try some of these suggestions:
- Try to connect the xbox to your router using a cable instead? If the connection is stable that way, then something in the wireless department is wrong.
- What is the frequency of disconnection? Every few seconds, minutes, random interval?
- If you have another computer at home that runs MSN Messenger, does the MSN Messenger get disconnected the same time that your xbox get disconnected? Try to wire both of them directly to the router. MSN Messenger is very sensitive to the internet connection as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Connecting directly to the router isn't practical (I'd be running a cable from one end of the house to the other), but trying the other USB port and doing the tests you've suggested may give me some answers.

Pity about the cable, perhaps if possible and you have an small tv/monitor you can use I'd lug the xbox to near the router and direct connet to see if it drops. process of elimination and all that. I must admit I've ended up buying a bloody long ethernet and piping it round to the router, it's the only way to be sure :/

It could also be your router.
I had a cheap D-Link router that kept rebooting on me every few minutes when my internet bandwidth usage got above a certain threshold. Normal surfing the web, checking email, etc was fine. But if I tried to download a file, it would reboot. Xbox Live also seemed to trigger the reboots. I ended up replacing it with a much better router, and haven't had any problems since.
I would also strongly recommend connecting the Xbox to the router with a cable, as dcr66 suggested, at least temporarily to eliminate the wireless as a source of problems. Run a cable from one end of the house to the other for an hour or so, just to troubleshoot the problem. Or move the Xbox to the room that the router is in (bringing a TV, or hooking the Xbox up to a computer monitor temporarily).
If it is the wireless that's causing the problems, you can also get powerline ethernet adapters that let you use your house's electrical lines for data. They might do the trick if you can't run a cable through the house.

I had to hook up a bridge for my satellite receiver to connect to my router and went ahead and hooked up the 360 to it. Not only was it more stable but faster as well. I used a DLink DAP-1522 if that helps.

i had this problem last night, it kept signing me out of xbox live and i would have to restart the game, in the end i just unplugged the 360 from my router, this allowed me to play the game with no interruptions, and all my DLC was still there and useable as far as i could tell.
i was still wearing my blood dragon armour and Zaeed was still useable, didn't go to the crash site though.

I have the same problem as Zalmida. I downloaded all the DLC and played for a couple hours at a friends. as soon as I came home, where I do not have internet connection, I can no longer play my game! this makes no sense to me and I feel it needs to be addressed by EA!

I'm really curious. I just deliberately unplugged my modem and this isn't affecting me. I've had my XBox Live connection drop twice now since starting my game and there's no such problem. Is it a regional issue with the XBox Live DRM system?
*EDIT* check the other thread. The intention seems ot be, it connects to Cerberus to verify your DLC when you boot the game. If you can't connect to Cerberus it won't allow your DLC to work. If your connection drops it SHOULD let you keep playing, until the next time you close the game - apparently it does for most players. Anything else seems to be a bug.
This really ought to be worked around and the check restricted to the 360's own inbuilt verification system (If you have DLC licensed to a console - you can use it on that console online or offline) I expect it could be patched by Bioware if we point out how much of a problem it is causing.
It's as redundant as some publishers *coughcough* sticking Securom on the Steam releases of their games - versions which ONLY WORK IF THEY'RE AN OFFICIALLY DOWNLOADED STEAM COPY, and therefore need no pointless extra DRM which is LESS secure and easier to crack than Steam...

Yeah, Thrawny's solution seems to be working for me. As far as I can tell, if I don't connect to the Cerberus Network before loading a game, I don't have any problems at all. It's only when I'm connected to Cerberus that losing connection forces a restart. And even when I'm not connected to Cerberus, I seem to have access to all the DLC. I've recruited Zaeed, the Normandy gravesite mission comes up and I can access all of the DLC armour and weapons. So if the Ceberus connection is supposed to be a security measure, it's not working properly.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who made suggestions regarding my connection, too - I'll be trying those out.

I am constantly logged into the game, even with cerberus. If I loose connection to xbox live, ( tested this by unplugging my routers xbox cable several times) my game just kept running with all the DLC.
I never suffered a restart.
As for your wireless problems, It seems to me that your Wireless adapter was a RMA case from the very start. Specifically if other Wireless methods in your house are not disconnecting.

haha! Im not the only one! I knew this wasn't just me! lol I made a post but! since the issue is here too, here is whats up with mine, I don't have wireless, I have Verizon Fios wired.
I was fine all morning, until 2:45pm-3:19pm and I keep getting Dc'd from xboxlive while playing dragon age, I was doing the Last brake in before I went and do the whole lets kill the dragon and do morrigan and live part lol, I called the live peeps and they told me to do all that cache stuff and what not but its still disconnecting me, any reasons? only downloaded content I have is DA. again as for my connection I have 30mbps download and 26mbps up load. I shouldn't be disconnecting at all, if It dose its either because our internet crapped out(very rarely happens), or someone in my family stupidly turned the switched off(no one was home at the time), but nope it just Dcd me from live 3 times.

My connection has been pretty bad this summer, and I recently received another 360 (Microsoft replaced my Red Ringed console). Because of that I have to be logged into Xbox Live when I launch Mass Effect 2 if I plan on using the DLC (and I have most of the DLC purchased from my last console). Yes I know that I could have the licenses transferred, but I'm still considering getting a 360s.

If you obtained the DLC via HIS console to a memory card, then you need to transfer the license so you can play it without being logged onto XBL. Thats and X360 issue and has nothing to do with Bioware or EA.Hudson86 wrote...

If you actually downloaded to YOUR X360 using his internet connection, then I have no idea why you would be having issues (unless you DLed it while logged into HIS GT).
