@ dragonmasum I don't think you can use an American version of Awakening with a Pal version of Dragon Age. I was thinking about doing this myself (because I can't download DLC) but someone said I can't. But there's been no official word about it yet - so who knows. It would be so much easier if Awakening just came out on disc everywhere (sighs).

The first problem of having american retail version of awakening could it be language issues for non-english players who certainly have DA:O in a different language. I don't think american version will contain other european languages like German, Spanish, French, Italian.

After that, the save games could have different "names", so with a non-european version of awakening you won't be able to read and import save games from an european version of DAO . Saying so it could be also that awakening american version doesn't recognize the fact that you own DAO for the reason I've just said, so it could be also impossible to install/start awakening.

Anyway I'm not a developer and these are my thoughts , they could be right or not, but anyway I think that it's better to wait an official response to this.

It's not a problem at all with understanding english language, as you can see I'm here, I don't live in a english speaking country but anyway I can understand and read posts here as well as I can write, but I really don't know if there are compatibility issues with a non-english version of DA:O .

Man, I knew I should've bought Xbox360 instead of PS3. Then I would have a disc for Awakening and also bee able to play the Mass Effect games, now I get neither.

Im curious... If SCEE changes his "DLC policy" and allows simultaneous PSN and retail distribution, would u then rerelease the Awakening expansion as a retail version in PAL territories?

I know that this thread is an old one (sry for bumping it) but nobody mentioned the fact that whole Europe is not supported with PSN Store. Europe is not just Germany, UK, Spain, Poland, it's also Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bulgaria... And they all lack they own (local, regional - whatever) PSN Store. OK anyone can create UK/USA/Japan PSN account and use it to access the Store and buy staff with prepaid cards. But in end this accounts are unlegal, and could be deactivated anytime. Its OK for getting small DLC for severals quids, but for something worth 30 Ł i would really like to get a disc, box and manual. I really loved DA:O, i got books as well and only thing that im now lacking is the Awakening. Im still hopping that Awakening will eventually be released in retail also in Europe...

Everyone is aware that 2-3 weeks ago GTA 4 Episodes From Liberty City were released in Europe on PSN and retail. So i wonder whats stands behinde this obvious double standards...?

It absolutely won't work. I got myself a US disc, as I can't connect my PS3 to the'net, and while the disc seems to work, the content region codings clash and simply won't do anything (other than waste my time and money).
This decision of Sony's sucks big time.Image IPB

I just hope we might eventually see a PAL release on disc. Or a special edition of Origins, with all the DLC plus Awakenings on a single disc - now that'd be good!!

The content of retail and downloadable Awakening is the same.
The content of GTA IV Episodes is different between the DLC version and the retail version (retail has more radio stations).
So it's not double standards, it's two different products.

More likely to be that the GTA series has been on the Playstation since the very first one and has a much bigger following then Dragon Age :)

Depends on your TV. If you have your PS3 hooked up via HDMI then it will work.

I was wondering about that for some time...

My PS3 is hooked up to my TV via HDMI. So if i import Awakening from Canada (Reg1) il be able to install it and play it even though my Origins copy is Reg2? Right?

Just looked into buying the DLC. So for PS3 it's how much?! Whereas I can get it for PC on retail disc for £12.50. Or Xbox 360 for £12.50.

Looks like I won't be purchasing all future RPG type games for PS3 then. Way to go SCEE.
