Well I am in a position where I will be a rogue and will be battling the Archdemon without a mage. I was considering using Alistair for tanking. But the other two choices will be critical. In addition I am playing a backstab/mostly Cunning rogue so using my rogue as an archer will not be too viable. Any suggestions? Since people have soloed this I am sure it is possible.

It's very possible. Alistar is a good choice as a tank. Get the Corruption Helm, from the General in the Marketplace.

Otherwise, has Leliana got song of courage and high cunning? Do you have Shale?

I'd go with Leliana with Song of Courage, Shale with her Auras, Alistar as a tank, and your PC doing DPS.

EDIT: Shale in Brilliant Spirit Crystals of course.

You can use ballistas for the whole fight, and as a cunning rogue will be quite capable of fixing them should they break. You might also find you do better with a bow than you'd think if you try. Just run up to the rampart overlooking the dragon, no darkspawn go up there.

Aha! I forgot about using the ballistas. That sounds almost soloable even. Since I'll be stealthed I won't have to worry about waves of darkspawn following me. I already have enough mechanical skill to disarm any trap and most likely fix those ballistas several times in a row. I may even actually get the forth mechanical skill point to ensure this.



Last playthrough Shale was my tank so using her for auras would be new but would probably keep the party alive. Thanks for the suggestions I was worried for a couple of seconds.

Heck you can solo it with a 2H warrior (who can't repair ballistas) and no armies. It's not a difficult fight with the right gear/micromanagement; and you don't even need to really fight the extra darkspawn--it's easy enough to just avoid them and not have to fight them. Get Corruption for sure though--maxed out Spirit Resistance is very useful.
