so today, I finally got my copy (official 2-disc) of ME2 (Dutch release was 29th, 1 day early, yeah!).
I installed it on my desktop (Windows 7, ATi 4670, 2,9GHz 64 X2, 2GB RAM) and it ran perfectly.
So, I tried to install it on my laptop (Toshiba A300-16i, Vista, ATi mobility 3650, 2,1GHz Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM).

The install went great, so I fired it up and downloaded everything from the Cerberus Network. so far so good.
but after the intro and the awakening, i think it freezes on the character creator. I tried both new character and import character, but it wouldnt matter. just a simple windows text message that ME2 has crashed and needs to be closed.

both my machines are 32 bit (x86), the only differences are that my desktop has Windows 7, an AMD processor as opposed to Vista and Intel.

I had the same problems with ME1 on my laptop during loading screens... but this one is everytime I try to start a new game, and there's no savepoint till then so now I have seen the intro like 10 times.

anyone else having this problem? someone already mastered this problem? please inform me... meanwhile, I'll keep trying.

ps: I read that more people are having this problem, but! I dont have damaged menus, those are still normal...

I know this is kinda old, but I wanted to let you know I have the same problem, and I also have an AMD processor. Maybe this problem has something to do with that?

Similar problem here. Mine crashes every time i get to the "press any key to continue". Immediate crash after i press any key. I believe the problem to be between game and win 7 (64 bit).

I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement of the problem, much less any answers or solution from bioware.

It's freezing at exactly the same bit on mine. My laptop's a 2.13ghz Intel i3-330M with a 512mb GeForce GT 330M, so it can't be an AMD problem. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit too.

Well mine is also crashing after the Normandy attack/Shepard reconstruction - I believe that the the next thing that happens is the character creation screen. I suspect the culprit might be my Graphics Card (Nvidia 9300M). Regards

Your video device is officially persona non grata, true enough.  It's probably just way too slow.  For most of the comments added here, I didn't see any mention of video drivers.  Most of the comments seemed to be from folks with supported video card models, who are having trouble anyway.
