After waking up Grunt, I asked him if his imprints could prove an upgrade.

It goes to the menu, but there appear to be no new ship upgrades.

And after looking through it, he says something "about not letting this stuff pile up, because he lives here".


Was he supposed to issue an upgrade for the ship?

No, it's a Prototype upgrade for a new shotgun he can use.

It is a personal upgrade, located up Prototypes (it is a shotgun)
