My example
When begining the final mission I had made up to be neutral and slighlty offensive toward the reapers... meaning I wont blow up the stations (which i learned later would be an option).
For both play through I choose Grunt and Legion to be part of Shepards squad through out the whole mission. Reasons are that Legion would provide attack drones as a distraction. While grunt would be the tank ... taking all the punishment.
Second play through I chose Samara, her years as a judicar honing her biotic skills would be invaluable. And I figured having the strict code of a judicar plus her experience, she would prove to have the highest survial rate out of everyone else. (She held the barrier and didnt die)
Leading fire team I chose Garrus, having lost his own squad to carelessness. I figured he would be less likely to be sacrificing or letting others die during the mission. (Miranda is a hardcore cerbarus member she's willing to let ppl die so dont pick her)
Lastly having gone through my playthrough the people I choose to be expendiable where Thane (ducts) and Jack (escort). Thane would have been better suited just like legion to crawl in the ventalation shafts. The heat wouldn't affect him as much and prolly live through it all. Saddly since he was terminally ill, he would be a natural to be given up if necessary.
Jack for escorting was an obvious for myself, she was not loyal to me. And she was highly unstable. If ME3 would be directly affected by who I had on board my surviving crew. Then I did not want jack to be present, simply because she as a character might provide me with very hard choices that I might have to deal with later on. (But I was surpised she didnt let any of the Normandy crew die)
And yeah I didnt blow up the station and let the Illusive Man have it for now... but I did make it clear I would not let him use for any other reasons other than fighting the Reapers.
