I know the loyalty matters and the normandy upgrades matter. But does the prototypes and armour and gun upgrades matter?

I had my whole team survive. Tali in the Vents and Miranda leading team 2, Garrus being the destruction and Samara on barrier while Jack took crew back, final fight was Grunt and Legion. Always take Legion because his sepcial sniper is a 2 shot kill on harbingers.

For upgrades you need the armour for the Oculuses, the shields for Jokers manuevers in the field and the cool guns for mercing the collector ship.

Okay, yeah, it appears to me that it's timed. Samara said "Need to hurry, can't go on much more." later than when I did it before, and I did it faster this time.



The tech part and the biotic part at least. I'm pretty just the part after that is timed too. But not the actual final boss battle.

I used Legion for the vent thing and he was headshotted. Ruined my no one left behind achievement.

And, yes, I did do his loyalty missions.

Well, some of this makes no sense.



I had Legion do the tech thing, Garrus lead the team twice. Grunt escorted the crew back. I took Miranda and Garrus with me to the end fight, and when we evacuated the end base, it showed Mordin lying dead on the ground - I was devastated, as I really liked him.



I did everyone's loyalty quest, got everyone. I also got Mordin's upgrade, getting him his special tech thing. Why did he die? Totally bogus.



Oh, and for his quest, I had him spare the salarian scientist, but I made sure those Krogan bastards couldn't shake off the genophage - I had him destroy the research.

Yeah I pretty much had the golden picks forthe ending except during the cutscene only Mordin's dead. I don't think it should matter as long as you completed his loyalty mission. I got totally ripped off!

I prepared for the mission fully before the Collectors attacked my ship. All members were loyal and all upgrades for the ship, my armor, and every weapon were obtained.



The first time, I sent Legion through the tubes. I have Zaeed, so I sent him to lead the first party. I took Garrus and Thane with me.



Legion died.



I chose Samara as my biotic and sent Zaeed to lead the second team, and Jacob with the sole survivor of the Collector attack.



Zaeed died.



I took Garrus and Thane with me to defeat the final boss.



Mordin died.





The second time through, I had Legion go through the tube again and Zaeed lead the second team. Took Garrus and Thane.



Legion died again.



Samara was my biotic, Miranda was the second leader, and Mordin took the survivor back to the ship. Garrus and Thane stayed with me again.



NOBODY DIED, YAY!



Again took Garrus and Thane with me to the final battle.



AND NOBODY DIED!





For the third time, I'm gonna reload an old save made right before the Collectors boarded my ship. I'm going to go immediately through the relay afterward and see if I can save everyone. I'll send Tali through the tube, and keep the rest of my choices from the second playthrough.



Funny how Legion dies for some, and lives for others.

I don't think who you take to the boss would matter?  Garrus and Tali.  Maybe having them "alive" at the end of the fight affects it?

Lost Legion and Grunt. I guess Zaed is a terrible team leader choice, same for grunt

Everyone survived, and all I had were the ship upgrades and Grunts heavy shotgun. It wasn't much of a suicide mission...

Wow, I must have gotten lucky. My first playthrough, and only Tali died. Even then, it was simply because she was pissed I gave away her father, and therefore was not loyal to me. Had she been loyal, she would have survived as well. Sent her through the vents, and chose Miranda to lead the fire team, and everything turned out fine.

I pretty sure that its based on luck, even if you choose someone appropriate for the job.



Obivously, in order for it to work at all, you have to have the upgrades and loyalty, then choose the right person, but after that I believe its up to luck.



Zaheed and Tali died in mine.



Tali took a rocket to the face after the vents (sad, she was my Shepard's love interest too), and Zaheed died after the second Fire Team mission.



I had all upgrades and all loyalities.

I had no losses. Everyone was loyal and the ship was upgraded. Had most of the weapon and armor upgrades. Grunt had his shotgun. Mordin had his upgrade but Legion didn't have his sniper rifle.

Tried it again, this time I pretty much ignored the enemies (being a Vanguard is extremely useful here) and just opened up the valves. Legion still died. Maybe I'm doing this wrong and have to destroy all the enemies before I open up the valves.

I had everyone survive on my first try, although the only crewmate I managed to save from the Collectors was Dr. Chakras.

I picked Legion for the vents, Mordin seemed like a terrible pick (bio-scientist, not engineer), if I had to pick, it'd've been Tali or Legion. For the biotic choice I picked Samara and Jack, both got the job done. I wonder what would happen if I purposely picked an idiot to run the teams. Would be fun to try out.


Note: I did have every single upgrade, all the ship upgrades, personal upgrades, and the loyalty missions done the way the characters wanted (Tali: avoided exile and avoided giving up her father due to high Paragon conversation skill). I wonder what the mechanic is by which people can die, I doubt its pure luck.

I kept everyone except that one colonist (Lilith...is it even possible to save her?). Had full loyalty and all upgrades.

TALI DIED!! NOOOOO!!!   T__T  After the vents..The doors...Quarian helmet soup...

Oh, and Miranda too.  But thats because she wouldnt stop whining about me sideing with Jack.

I did the following:



Got most of the upgrades. Up to like level 4 in weapons and shields/armor, I think.



Everyone was loyal.



Vents: Legion

2nd Leader: Miranda

Shielding: Samara

Escort: Zaeed

My Team: Grunt and Tali



No one died. Dunno. Maybe it was the upgrades. I worked on going forward as fast as I could so Legion's bar didn't drop too far in the Vents.

Judging by ME2 I'd say a T.V will tell you that their memorial something is awesome.


And if they live they'll have something more important to do then save the galaxy.

I dunno. That's what I'm trying to figure out.

I'm gonna have to say that time does not matter, aslong as they don't die in the tubes. I loaded my team with shotguns (fully upgraded) and plowed throught the first part in prolly around a minute, and mordin still died when I was closing the doors.

I'm under the impression thats it has something to do with the personal conflicts and inter character conflicts, and how you handled them (i.e Jack and miranda, Legion and Tali, ect..).

Quick Question am I the only one who had everyone make it except only Dr Chaquas is back on the normandy (out of the regular crew) She said I came to late? Does this happen in everyones game or is there a time limit on getting to the Omega 4 after taking on the RFF?



Also so im contributing,

as for my team I took tali and Thane, then sqitched thane out for Jack in the final fight.
