I took back my copy to the gamestop, got a new one, and guess what? Same freaking problem. Somehow it detects and plays the second disk as per norm, but the first it never reads. It acts like it's reading it, takes a while, and then comes up with nothing.
Is it possible to get a digital copy of the disk content sent to me?
disk one is not being recognised, disk 2 is though.

I believe you can install the EA downloader and use your keys to get the digital version. Not positive. Something I just recently read here though: do you have DVD43 installed? Apparently if you disable it, it will sometimes fix the 'won't read the disc' problem.

Considering I haven't a clue what DVD43 is, I would think that as unlikely. I will try the manager bit and see if that works, I'll make sure to post the result here.

Wow, thanks a load Eurypterid! Sure enough, if you activate the product key in the EA manager, it will download the game. Of course it'll take a couple of hours as opposed to a few minutes, but as opposed to trying to get a refund (not likely) or sending in the disk (not likely to do much) this seems a good alternative.
Now I can only hope I don't run into the rest of the insane amount of bugs people seem to be having =/

No offence, but there was a reason I bought the physical copy and didn't (or couldn't on my lovely australian internet plan) download the 15 gig monster that is Mass Effect 2.
I'm also having the problem of my dvd not even reading on my computer. It's not an error with my dvd-drive, I have plenty of other games which will run from the dvd, so it's not me unless they've done some ridiculous format for the dvd that I don't support.
So just wondering if I can get some solutions for this problem? (In my case, neither disc reads at any level. Just continually sits on "please insert a disc")
EDIT: Nevermind, typically the moment I posted this the dvd decided it wanted to work. Cheers anyway.
