Nope, you just have to save them from the Base

no. but you rescue them later on in the game during the suicide mission. when the ship gets boarded, the ONLY person that doesnt get captured is joker. no way around it.

mi9sread post, no there isn't any way.. you can only save them once you go to the collector base.

There is time after the Mission.

You have to go straight to the base after the attack, if you do a side mission, the team will have been melted by the time you arrive.

I did about 3 or 4 N7 missions and only Kelly died. Aside from her I'm proud to say I lost nobody. Now to my next playthrough!

I lost my entire crew except for Chakwas. That felt. No more Scotty!

I saved Kelly... I'm pretty sure I went to all of the planets with stores to buy all the upgrades I could afford, and I even completed one mission (Ish-- collected 2 packages and then told him to get lost) before I went through the relay and I still saved Kelly. I guess with whatever I did there was barely enough time to save her.

I didn't go right into the relay right after the Normandy attack, I had a couple upgrades on Illium I still had to get and went to get them. Afterwards, I went through the Omega 4 relay and still managed to save everyone. So it is mission based and not necessarily time based.
