Mass effect one won't work but dragon age does?

Hey guys got a low spec lap top with 2 g memeoray and 256 decated vid card dragon age works fine on laptop but mass effect won't work it just takes fowever to load and is really laggy. other than getting a faster pc what can i do ?

Does the laptop have a single-core or a dual/quad-core processor? (you can find out easily by r-clicking on your My Computer icon on the desktop -> Properties) If you're not sure what it is just post the processor name.
If it's a single-core processor then that'll be the cause of your problem. Mass Effect was built specifically for multi-processors and as a result they didn't really build in any support for single-cores. There are a few tweaks you can do, but it's unlikely it'll ever run smooth (or even close to smooth).

amd turion 64 mobile tech chip i think
i just thought with mass effect being older it would have lesser vid requirements than the newer dragonage.

Ah yes that's a single-core processor, it only goes up to 2.4GHz from the looks of it. There's not much you can do to improve performance unfortunately, short of getting a medium-spec desktop or newer laptop. Even on the fastest overclocked single-core processors people have reported problems running Mass Effect 2 simply due to the processor.
