I just got the game, and I'm about an hour in, and I'm noticing some problems with being able to interact with objects in the game.  The orange rectangle appears around objects I'm supposed to be able to interact with, but no matter how close to the object I get, I'm not given the option to use/talk to whatever it is.

You're not the first having this problem, trust me, a lot of gamers dreading this... it's an interaction bug most likely. The orange square is suppose to turn blue when you approach it but it's not.

TRY THIS: lowest resolution windowed mode, and then use the [esc] [esc] trick and hammering down on the spacbar OR saving, reloading (hit F9), and hammering on the spacebar... or a combination of both but lowering the resolution and playing in windowed mode as helped a lot of people.

This isn't permanent though... just a work-around. Anyway, hope that helps. If not, you can nag with the rest of us on a thread I've posted called "Spacebar issue..." for any updates. It's not a hardware deal, just a possible bug.

If your PC is well below minimum, that's what is SUPPOSED to happen, because the video card is simply unable to do what the game's mechanics require!  And once again, we see the value of paying attention to System Requirements, and trying harder to understand what they mean!

Here's the official word on it:

I just want to address some of the complaints also. Its not that we don't care about this bug. We just don't know what's wrong yet.

My guess is that your framerate is too low, or there is something wrong with your graphics driver. I can't get into specifics, but the game relies on the graphics card to determine if something was "visible recently". If your frame rate is low enough, then the game will never think something is "visible recently".

Please let me know anything relevant about your graphics card or graphics settings, including the framerate. if possible. If the game is under 10 FPS, it may cause problems.

Ok so I think for some of you the problem is the low framerate. For now, the best solution is for you to get a faster framerate. You can get this by reducing your resolution. We made a technical decision that the game would rely on the framerate being at least a certain level.

I apologize because I know you're great fans, and you want to see the game in full glory even though your machine isn't the fastest. But at the same time, we had to have technical limitations somewhere.

The facts now seem to show that the FPS bottom limit isn't necessarily stuck at the 10 FPS rate, but intermittently affects the game mechanics at higher (but still "slow") rates, such as 12-13 FPS.

(Subminimums are not listed, only cards that at least at one time were real gaming cards are in the ranks now.)
