Many FPS fans played Mass Effect since they watched the trailer they
saw guns and said "ooooh, exploshuns FTW".
Oh
please don't start with that playing a certain genre of games
determines the gamers intelligence crap it gets old after a while.
Furthermore
I know it's hard for people like you to abandon their pre-conceived
notions, but try to remember this, it shouldn't be too hard seeing as
rpg players are the most intellegent gamers ever. Just because someone
enjoys fps or tps does not mean that they want every game to conform to
the whole gruff space marine in one ton of armor who feels no emotions
and solves all of lifes problems by being bad ass and shooting.
When they went through the gameplay which was so easy for
me to settle into for the fact it didn't FEEL like an FPS, they complained
and b****** until they got their way at the RPG fan's expense. It's not enough
they have countless games catered to their tastes, they have to harm an
RPG fan's experience.
Please stop being so melodramatic, it really doesn't do you any good. And just for the record. Yes I realize it sounds so much more epic when you make it seem like the few faithful RPG purists are holding out against the filthy unwashed babarians that are FPS players whose sole goal it to defile all the RPG purists hold dear, but that is just not the case.
Honestly you seem to be quite misinformed about FPS players, maybe just maybe if you actually knew what you were talking about you could actually form an intellectual opinion about another genre. Now since that is obviously too much to ask for how about you just don't make ludacris assumtions and neither will I.
Now I could go around saying RPG players just want more dice rolls, stats and a redundant inventory but that would be ignorant and wrong and I do try to distance myself from that kind of thinking. You however, do not, instead you seem to like going around willy nilly spouting your uninformed and biased opinions even when no one is asking for it.
They were complaining about the combat, but all RPG purists I've spoken
to didn't find anything wrong with it. As I've said, not being a
shooter kind of guy, I was able to ease into the fights very
comfortably. If the FPS fans could have just been content with the
story and the simplicity of combat, we wouldn't be discussing this on
Bioware's foums in the first place.
Well of course if you have and audience that is traditionally RPG purists you are going to get that kind of response. That's like asking bungie's fanbase who are typically FPS players, if an FPS like Halo needs more stats. Any moderately intelligent person could tell the answer is going to be "there is nothing wrong with it"
Now judging from what you have wrote I'm not sure if you are legit or just trying to get a response, if it's the former then I feel sorry for you and if not well then I fell into you're cleverly woven trap, congradulations.
