2 demons and 3 trees as adds is preety rough when you lack healer in your party...
But I manage to take them down, but to the end, 3/4 are dead, except tank and tank gets killed on spellcasting of Zath.

Any tip?

nvm, just did it using ub3r zerg tactic = nuke the hell out of him.

What helped there ALOT was mage total shield on tank.

Easy kill for anyone having trouble: Get Alistair to lvl 9, so he has Cleanse Area. The Hold spell Zathrian puts on Swiftrunner, Witherfang and the other werewolves is a magical effect, thus, a Templar's Cleanse Area will nullify it. You now outnumber Zathrian and have at least one Boss-level ally. Enjoy!

Only downside is that Witherfang steals all your xp with this... and you break all your buffs with it since Alistair stands next to you. =/

The fight is indeed nasty, but mostly because of the positioning. You're not only surrounded, but even intermingled with enemies. I usually forcefield Zathrian, then Petrify/Trap one Sylvan and nuke down the other two in the meantime.

On a dual wielding warrior: whack out whirlwind and punisher, to gain aggro. Then get Alistair to taunt Zathrian. Get Morrigan to CoC some of the adds, and then get her to Crushing Prison Zathrian. Let Leliana do her thing. All the adds should be dead now, from you and Leliana. Then Get Leliana to arrow of slaying Zathrian, Morrigan to death hex, then you just rip him to shreds with your insanse attack speed generating huge numbers of criticals. Alternatively, get Morrigan to mana clash Zathrian. Insta-kills him.

On a mage: Alistair taunts, you mana clash Zathrian, then SoTC the adds.

Its actually one of the easier fights, if you have mana clash it becomes extremely easy, if not, some sensible positioning and threat management is all you need.

On a solo playthrough, I think I tried retreating into one of the side passages, thinking the sylvans couldn't get through the door. If I recall correctly, they could - but at least only one at a time.

Mana Clash on Zathrian never hurts, either.
