Hey all.

I've had this idea in my head for a while now, a "Streaker" challenge. Inspired by FFXII Grandmaster's Streaker challenge for FFXII. The idea was to beat the game without weapons or armor (accessories allowed). I'm going to try this in Dragon Age, hopefully succeeding. Dragon Age is much easier than some of FFXII, but there are several drawbacks which should make this interesting. Also, in Dragon Age, when you take your clothes off, you are actually running around in your underpants, unlike FF.

Anyone else is free to join me, and post their experiences in this thread. I will also be posting a guide of sorts as the second, post which I will reserve for now. If someone can film some videos it would be great, but unfortunately I cannot, as I have no means to do this (PS3 version).

The Rules:

 - You cannot, at any time, equip armor or weapons. Mages Robes and Staves are included. You may wear clothing with no armor value or stat boosts, for decency's sake alone (chantry robe, noble's clothing, etc).

 - You CAN wear Amulets, Rings, and Belts. I imagine these should be very important.

 - No using exploits with Elfroot etc

 - Bombs/Traps ARE allowed

Mages

I'm not sure how to handle mages. Obviously, Mages are overpowered for this, considering they can deal great damage without gear. I will do my best to beat this without mages, but will resort to them WITH restrictions, if I have to. These are the optional rules for mages if you wish to play with them:

 - 1 Mage per party. If you're playing as a PC mage, then unequip Jowan of all items, and turn off the magic in his tactics.

 - No damaging spells. Even if the damage is a side effect. No Animate Dead, No Crushing Prison, No Waking Nightmare, No Blood Wound, nothing that does damage. Even Arcane bolt is a no-no.

 - No lyrium potions, to limit your spell casting. No casting Mass Rejuv or Rejuv on yourself either.

So, I hope you guys enjoy this challenge, it should be something different to soloing. I think it'll be more difficult, because you can't use many talents. Without weapons, you can't use the weapon trees.

That's funny, I was just thinking of doing something like this down the road. I'd like to take the challenge; unfortunately my next two playthroughs are already planned. Unless I did the warrior archer thing naked. Hmm.

Question, though, my plan had been to use tier 1 weapons, since warriors and rogues obviously need them to leverage their damaging abilities. I think my original plan was to just do it without mages... Also, Dog and Shale appear to be stronger for this.

Interesting.  With only fists none of the abilites would work that require weapons.  What difficulty are you gonna try it on?

Oh come on, it's not a real streaker challenge if you wear clothes.

I was thinking about the challenge and I came out with a strategy of sorts.

Mages will be the "tank" + CCer.

Rest of the parties will have their skill bar filled with bombs. I imagine a scenario where a CoC is used to trap enemies followed by 4xAcidFlask + 4xShockBomb + 4xFreezeBomb.... Practical since $ is saved from not considering armour and weapons.

Other things can be considered like going full dex, taking shapeshifters etc.

Bombs are going to be important.

Getting through the Origin is proving to be the hardest. You hit for 1 damage with your fists.

I'm planning on getting 30 cunning, rest dex, so I don't get hit. I'll rely on traps etc.

Yes, Dog and Shale get an advantage. Which mages going a Human Noble Rogue (stealth for traps, more skill points too) a good choice, as you get dog, to get you through the origin story.

I think we should limit ourselves to one of Shale or Dog, but at this rate, it's very difficult.

Tier 1 weapons could help a lot actually. If I'm really struggling, I'll try.

Sarielle, I would, but I play on PS3, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't appreciate my mother seeing that lol. She'd accuse me of watching porn!

Tier 1 weapons will make a huge difference in how it plays out. No weapons basically comes down to how well you can use bombs and traps (do poisons even work on fists?). Tier 1 weapons means that although we'll probably rely on bombs/traps, there will still be a significant amount of tactics going on in the group, since your spec will actually matter.

Shapeshifters would dominate this.  If you took that route would the abilities be allowed?

I'd say that Shapeshifting is allowed, just because it isn't particularly powerful to begin with. But with only one mage per party, it's hardly gamebreaking.

So, do you guys think we should change the rules to allow tier 1 weapons, on the basis that you don't seem to increase damage with higher stats using your fists (or not as much) and you can use abilities? It would still be a streaker challenge, without armor.

First to three, yes or no, and then I will edit the OP.

I reckon non enchanted tier 1 weapons are all right. But i think just a sword or a dagger on its own would be fare.
