Is it true that even though you may do a squadmates loyalty quest that at the end of the quest you may not gain their loyalty because of some choices you made?
If thats the case then what examples are there of this?

An example is during Zaeed's quest if you save the refiners instead of chasing the Blue Sun Merc

you can still gain Zaeed's loyalty if you save the refinery. You just have to have enough paragon points to convince him that his revenge isn't worth it.

I loved being paragon during that mission. First time I've ever seen a paragon Shep get so angry to the point of punching someone.

Wait 'till you get to Thane's mission. Made me feel bad for lecturing Garrus about endangering the doctor.

Yeah, I found it a refreshing change of pace from the "talking them down" approach that usually happens with paragon choices. See Bioware? Punching can be a good thing!

I wish I knew this when I was doing the quest because I got a lot of Renegade for letting them die

Yeah, it kinda sucks. The first time I played through it I thought I was going to lose his loyalty until I saw the paragon option.
