So I have been having issues with this all day. I install the game, hit play, it does the release date check and then after I get an error saying something about not configured right and to reinstall the game. Well I am on reinstall #4 after contacting live support and them telling me to create a new user account and try installing over there to see if that fixes it. Well it didnt! I am running windows 7 64 bit and have now installed it on my wife's compute which is running vista 64. Guess what??!! It works on hers. So this is making me wonder is there a windows 7 issue? If so is it fixable and how? Please help!
Misconfigure?

I can only give some general suggestions, since I don't know of this specific issue, but here goes-
a few important things to check:
- make sure windows 7 UAC is turned off (go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> change User Account Control setting -> drag slider all the way to the bottom
- make sure your antivirus is disabled during the install as some AV's may interfere with the install process
- make sure to start the setup manually, so close down the autorun window that pops up after inserting the disc, go
to DVD drive, r-click to open the disc, r-click on Setup.exe and select Run as Administrator
Other than that I'm afraid I can't help you. I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the game installed just fine for me with all the above checked.

So I did just that and still no luck, any other suggestions out there? Cause I would hate to have to go back to vista

I don't suppose you could get a screenshot of the exact error message?
Also have you tried opening up the configuration tool in the mass effect 2 launcher (press configure button)? Try playing around with some settings there, then before exiting click Mass Effect 2 (top left) -> save settings.
When I say playing around I mean setting everything to low, trying windowed mode instead of fullscreen, and trying a differetn resolution (either smaller or equal to your monitor's native resolution)
