I found the party was not required for fighting sloth. I spent most of my time in golem form bashing away at him, occasionally switching back to my rogue form to stun him and do massive damage. For healing, between potions and the lyrium veins I just ping ponged between them. Overall, I'd say the initial ogre fight was harder.

Is this the mage origin start area or some area accessible later in the game?

Later in the game.  Don't worry... You didn't miss any stat boosts in the Mage origin :police:

Nope, it's the Circle Town Quest from later in the game.  Thanks for the tips everyone!

Be sure to rescue your buddies before you go on to the final battle with Mr. So Called Sloth. If you don't rescue them from their nightmares, you will be singing a famous song. "(Don't wanna be) All by Myself". The Celine Dion version.

Sloth is nothing like his name.

So you encounter Sloth again?  What about that spirit guy that gives you the staff because I sort of killed him..... was that a mistake.

The Fade quest had the potential to be really annoying (I hate dream sequence quests in RPGs) but the fact that you can shapeshift into 4 different characters made it fun. Learning to adapt and knowing which characters were best to shift into to fight certain enemies was the best part.

Also, during fights, it was fun shifting between all three different characters and using their skills and then shifting to the next one so you didn't have to worry about cooldown time.

I am stuck in the part with the dummy the boat and the hidden room - can't find the room.  I only have mouse form so far.

I killed the two wisps and now I'm stuck - can't get out and can't go forward.

Please help :)

How do I get started in the Fade?

I'm in the room with Niall, but don't have a clue what to do. Talked him up and down, but not really getting it.

I'm stuck here, in the first room of the Fade, and don't have a clue what to do.  I've exhausted the conversation choices with Niall.  Help?

So far my least favorite part of the game. I actually turned the game off last night and ended up watching Saturday Night Live instead (and that really proves my dislike for this part of the game).

Some of the battles can be frustrating without all of the shape shifting forms at your disposal. In my opinion, the biggest problem with the fade was that the majority of it was boring. Nothing exciting to look at, see, or do on the islands that do not contain your trapped party members.

I didn't feel all that smart or accomplished running about the place constantly shape shifting to explore every nook and cranny for the permanent stat bonuses. There was very little puzzle to it, just lots of scuffling about.

How many forms does sloth go through? I keep getting killed by him and having to start all over again. Frustrating is definitely the word for this area.

good thread. I got stuck as I had these doors I couldn't open. I think the trick is to exit out of this section, go to another section and try to get spirit and golem to get these doors open. I just don't want to miss any stat boosts.

You guys say there are 4 stat boosts total? or 4 for each stat?

My codex says lyrium is addicting. Is there a limit to the # of lyrium veins I can use to replenish my health? Or will I get addicted?

Also I'm curious if anyone knows the answer to my above question about how many stat boosts.

And finally, I'm stuck in this room with 5 mages in the mage asunder portion of the fade. Even on easy, these guys gang up on me and mess me up pretty fast. I don't want to tear through my remaining health potions, I have a feeling I'll need them for the boss fight(s). Sometimes the mages attack each other, but usually they just attack me. What for should I be in? Burning man form didn't seem to help at all.

Good question.

I know there are a heck of a lot more stat boosts than four total -- my cunning alone went from 11 to 17 in that part of the Fade. Going by my stats from a save before entering the Fade and one from after leaving it (subtracting the 6 points I got from the two levels I picked up in the interim), the number of stat boosts I got from that place was 11. Odd number.... and there's one in the entrance area where you meet Duncan. Wachimmsmin fortress, or something.

Tricksy.

I think I recall the five-mage fight you're referring to, though. Flames right at the door, right? A room with four fireplaces and two pairs of lesser rage demons right before them? I started out by opening the door as a burning man, running back out of the room, caging the first one that stuck his head into the fireplace room with my spirit form, shifted back to a mage, and then wailed on the last one with my standard barrage of spells: winter's grasp, lightning, arcane bolt, knock him down with a stonefist, and the hit him with a couple extras just in case he hasn't quite died yet. Mage number 3 never left the room she started in so I ducked in once those first two were dead and polished her off, and the last two in back of the room were just weenies.

That was a good fight.

I loved that whole tower, though, and the Fade part the most of all. The lack of inventory space was frustrating, but... it usually is in this game. Am going to have to invest in some backpacks.

I haven't found any items thankfully, I went into the fade with 70/70, I may have to destroy more stuff if I find any.

That means I may have missed a stat boost in Wachimm... Oh well, don't think I can get back there.

I may roam around a bit and try to get spirit form, I only have mouse and burning man. But that is the fight I was referring to. It seems 4 of the mages follow me, and it's too much to handle at once. I may come back to it later.

I want to say it's four forms. I always get stopped on his last form, when he starts casting blizzard, because damn that hurts.
